When does the timing belt need to be replaced on a 1999 Holden Rodeo LX Spacecab Ute

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. It is usually recommended at 100,000 miles. They can last the lifetime of a vehicle but if money is not a problem and you are close or over 100,000 miles, I would go ahead and change it. If it breaks, not only are you not going no where, it can also cause engine damage.

You might want to flush and re-fill slave cylinder and bleed the system.Use only the recomended fluid, sounds like either air in system or too light weight fluid in cylinder.when hyd. fluid gets hot it get thin when its cold it stays thicker. Is there a heat sheild missing? Hope this helps.

Engine swap, 86 diesel engine into a 93 spacecab

Depends on where you Live. Most laws in The U.S. require you to install an engine that meets or exceeds the manufactures emissions controls for the car your putting the engine in. If it is more emissions than what the car originally came for you will never get it licensed.

Need to replace my clutch in a toyota avensis 2002, 1.8 vvti. Its slipping badly, can't really grumble its done 94.000 miles on the original clutch. As a DIY project, is this job a big job? Last time I...

I have a 2001 Avensis 1.8 VVTi and just had to strip the engine to change the piston rings - the clutch was easy, compared to the rest. The Haynes manual has it all in and the job may take some time. I had access to a fully equipped car hobby club to do mine and i still took 50 hours to out the engine and strip it.

But to be honest, dropping the tranny is the biggest part of the job, the rest is 8 bolts and a clutch plate.
It's the disconnection of the tranny thats the tme consumer - the procedure simplified is - wheel off, track rod end off, wishbone off, CV joint out, electrics to tranny off, support the engine on blocks, support strut off, tranny off, clutch off.
As they say in the Haynes Manual - 'Replacement is the reverse of removal'

Hope this helps in deciding what to do!
