Question about 1996 Chevrolet C1500

2 Answers

I have a 96 chevy pick-up with a v-6 auto. The vehical will not start unless you pour fuel into the throttle body then motor will run until the fuel is gone. I changed the Fuel pump in the fuel tank also changed the in line fuel filter. I don't think the injectors in the vortec intake are working. I removed the intake fuel line on top of the intake manifold and turned the key on fuel came out at a high rate. Is there a cur cit controlling the injectors. Any help out there. Best, Don

It sounds like a bad fuel pressure regulator. If you have not replaced it, here is the steps:

Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve fuel system pressure.
  3. Disconnect the ignition coil.
  4. Remove the upper intake manifold.
  5. Disconnect the vacuum line to the regulator.
  6. Remove the snap ring from the regulator housing.
  7. Place a towel under the regulator to absorb any spilled fuel and remove the pressure regulator from the fuel rail socket.
  8. Remove the pressure regulator from the fuel rail.
  9. Remove the pressure regulator O-ring filter, O-ring backup and O-ring and discard them.

To install:
  1. Before installing the O-rings, lubricate them with clean engine oil and install them on the regulator inlet as a complete assembly.
  2. Install the snap ring retainer into the slot on the regulator housing.
  3. Connect the vacuum line to the regulator.
Ensure that the retainer is properly seated in the slot in the regulator housing. Pull on the regulator to make sure that it is properly seated.

I still do not know what the fuel pressure is.You need a gauge while fuel is pumped under pressure. Thanks.

96 chevy blazer won't start.

I'm following another issue like this on a 1996 Jimmy.
This engine requires 60psi or more fuel pressure to run.
You need to have someone check the fuel pressure at the rail- throttle body with a gauge.

1997 chevy pick up will start when we add gasoline directly in to carburator but after it runs out of gas it dies

this is a fuel injected motor not a carburatored motor.if it only runs when you pour fuel in the throttle body then you have a fuel supply problem that needs to be checked out,you may have a plugged fuel filter and a bad fuel pump.

1998 chevy tahoe 4x4 wont start. not getting fuel to throttle body. its not a fuel pump relay i tried it. it will start if i pour gas in the throttle body

fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator. When you turn the key do you hear fuel pump run? If not odds are the pump is bad.

Engine wont fire until fuel is poured in throttle body

1993 s-10 should have a 4.3 engine. Your symptoms tell me your throttle body injector is clogged, and only allows so much fuel to pass through it. Therefore, on a idle there is not enough fuel coming through to keep the engine running, or to start it. If you replace the throttle body injector your issue should cease.

I hope this information helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.
