    Are you referring to the rocker arm bolt torque? Or the valve cover bolt torque? You shouldn't have touched the rocker arms when changing the intake gaskets.

Rocker Arms & Pushrods


Removal & Installation

3.1L & 3.4L Engines
Left Side

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Drain the cooling system to a level below the coolant pipe on the front of the engine.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    NOTEKeep the pushrods in order. Intake pushrods are 5 3 / 4 inches long and exhaust pushrods are 6 inches long.


    Negative battery cableSpark plug wiresHeater bypass pipePositive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve and hoseRocker arm cover


    Rocker arms and pushrods

To install:

  1. Lubricate all the valvetrain components with engine oil.
  2. Install or connect the following:

    Pushrods and the rocker arms. Torque the bolts to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).Rocker arm cover using a new gasket. Torque the rocker cover bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).PCV valve and hoseHeater bypass pipe. Torque the screw at the water pump to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm), the bolt at the cylinder head corner to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm) and the nut to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).Spark plug wiresNegative battery cable
  3. Refill the cooling system.
  4. Start the vehicle and verify no leaks.

rocker arm shaft bolts 15-20 ft lbs.

Need cylinder head torque specifications 2004 hyundai elantra


Install the cylinder head bolts. Starting at top center, tighten all cylinder head bolts in sequence as shown in illustration, using the Cylinder Head Bolt Wrench (09221 - 32001) or equivalent. Repeat the procedure, re-tightening all cylinder head bolt to the specified torque. (torque spec is Cold Engine 105-115 Nm (76-83 ft lb) )
. Install the timing belt tensioner pulley.
. Install the timing belt on the camshaft sprocket, making sure that the tension side is tightened by turning the camshaft sprocket in reverse, all timing marks are in alignment.
. Adjust the timing according to "Timing Belt"
. Install the rocker cover and tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Tightening torque: Rocker cover belt:

2.5-3.5 Nm (25-35 kg.cm, 2-3 ft. lbs.)

. Install the timing belt cover.
Install the new intake manifold gasket and the intake manifold. Tighten the nuts and bolts to the specified torque.
Install the new exhaust manifold gasket and the exhaust manifold. Tighten the exhaust manifold attaching nuts to the specified torque.
. Install the surge tank and tighten the nuts bolts to the specified torque.
. Install the power steering oil pump and bracket.
. Install the ignition coil.
. Install the air intake hose.
Connect the vacuum hose, fuel hose and water hose.
. Install breather hose.

3.9L, 5.2L, and 5.9L Engines To Remove:

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Battery negative cable
    • Coolant
    • Intake manifold-to-alternator bracket support rod
    • Alternator
    • Closed crankcase ventilation system
    • Evaporation control system
    • Air cleaner, air in-let hose and resonator
  3. Release fuel system pressure.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Fuel supply line from the fuel rail
    • Accelerator linkage and, the speed control and transmission kickdown cables (if equipped)
    • Distributor cap and wires
    • Coil wires
    • Coolant temperature sending unit wire
    • Heater hoses and bypass hose
    • Vacuum supply hoses from the intake manifold (3.9L Engine)
    • Fuel injector harness and secure out of the way (3.9L Engine)
    • Cylinder head covers and gaskets
    • Intake manifold and throttle body as an assembly
    • Exhaust manifolds
    • Rocker arm assemblies and push rods, and identify to ensure installation in original locations.
    • Head bolts from each cylinder head and remove cylinder heads
    • Spark plugs
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • New cylinder head gaskets into position on the cylinder block
    • Cylinder heads onto head gaskets and cylinder block
  2. Tighten all cylinder head bolts, starting at top center and in sequence
    1. Torque to: 50 ft. lbs. (68 Nm)
    2. Repeat and Torque to: 105 ft. lbs. (143 Nm)
    CAUTION
    When tightening the rocker arm bolts, ensure that the piston in that cylinder is NOT at TDC.
  3. Install or connect the following:
    • Push rods and rocker arm assemblies in their original positions.
      1. Torque to: 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm)
    • Intake manifold and throttle body assembly
    • Exhaust manifolds
    • Spark plugs
      1. Torque to: 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm)
    • Coil wires
    • Coolant temperature sending unit wire
    • Fuel injector harness (3.9L Engine)
    • Vacuum supply hoses to the intake manifold (3.9L Engine)
    • Heater hoses and bypass hose
    • Distributor cap and wires
    • Accelerator linkage and the speed control and transmission kickdown cables
    • Fuel supply line.
    • Alternator and accessory drive belt.
      1. Alternator bolt - Torque to: 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm)
    • Intake manifold-to-alternator bracket support rod and bolts
    • Cylinder head covers
    • Closed crankcase ventilation system
    • Evaporation control system
    • Resonator assembly (3.9L Engine), air in-let hose and air cleaner
    • Heat shields
      1. Torque to: 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm)
    • Coolant
    • Negative battery cable.

Torque specification on a 2003 alero cylinder heads 3.4 liter


3.4L Engine To Remove:
  1. Remove the lower intake manifold.
  2. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe.
  3. If removing the right cylinder head, remove the catalytic converter from exhaust manifold.
  4. If removing the left cylinder head, remove the engine oil dipstick and tube.
  5. Remove the rocker arms and pushrods.
  6. Remove and discard the cylinder head bolts.
  7. Remove the cylinder head.
  8. Clean the mating surfaces on the following items:
    • Cylinder head
    • Cylinder block
    • Intake manifold
  9. Clean the cylinder block bolt threads.
NOTE: During disassembly, keep the valve train components together for proper location during assembly.
To Install:
NOTE: Coat the cylinder head bolt threads using thread sealer.
  1. If removed, install the following components:
    • Exhaust manifold
    • Accessory studs
    • Spark plugs
  2. Place the cylinder head gasket in position over the dowel pins. Ensure that the THIS SIDE UP note is showing.
  3. Install the cylinder head. Cylinder head torque sequence ’99-‘00 gmpc_v6_14.gif

  4. Install the new cylinder head bolts.
    • Tighten the cylinder head bolts a first pass to 44 ft lb (60 Nm).
  5. Tighten the cylinder head bolts in sequence an additional 95 degrees.
  6. Install the intake gasket.
  7. Install the pushrods and rocker arms.
  8. Raise and support the vehicle.
  9. Install the catalytic converter and dipstick tube and indicator if removed.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Install the exhaust crossover pipe.
  12. Install the intake manifolds.
  13. Connect negative battery cable.
  14. Fill the cooling system.

What are the torque measurements for the rocker arms and intake manafold?


2.2L Engine & 2.4L Engines
These engines are not equipped with rocker arms. The camshafts directly actuate the valves.

3.1L Engine & 3.4L Engines
When install or connect the check the following:
- Pushrods and the rocker arms. Torque the bolts to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm). - Rocker arm cover using a new gasket. Torque the rocker cover bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
- Heater bypass pipe. Torque the screw at the water pump to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm), the bolt at the cylinder head corner to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm) and the nut to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).


About the INTAKE MANIFOLD...
-
Intake manifold nuts and bolts and tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)
- Pushrods and rocker arms. Torque the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm) plus an additional 30 degree turn. - Lower intake manifold. Apply sealant to the threads of the bolts and torque the bolts to 115 inch lbs. (13 Nm).

Lower Intake Manifold Bolt .............. 115 in. lbs (9.5833 ft. lbs)
Upper Intake Manifold Bolt/Stud ...... 18 ft. lbs
Valve Rocker Arm Bolt ................... 168 in. lbs (14 ft. lbs +30 degress

Need torque specs


I presume that you are connecting your Intake manifold to the cylinder head after replacing your intake gasket, if so they are 30ft lbs, and 360 in pounds. Hope that helps
