Question about 1997 GMC Sierra K2500
You have to have a scanner to set it. What you do is look at the data on the scanner and you will see the timing at a degree mark. You set it by turning the dist just like before but on each move you snap the throttle to about 3500 RPM and then check again at idle.
Unless you can get a scanner just have a shop do this for you.

The diagram in the manuals should show the timing marks on both cam gears to be on the blue timing chain links.
