V-8 Swap Has anyone done a v-8 swap on a 1994 bravada? What all is needed to do the swap? Will the stock transfer case work still? Just thinking about doing a swap. Any info would be much appreciated

The transmission and transfer-case will work with the 5.7 liter engine. Your going to have to replace the engine mounts and the exhaust manifold. You can get the parts needed at JEGs and you can use the exhaust manifold from a LT1 since they are contoured closer to the engine. The radiator will work fine, but your going to have to use a electric fan. With the V8 engine, make sure that it comes with the ECM. Easier if your going to use a 1994 engine like the LT1 from a Camaro, since it too used the 4L60E transmission like the one in your Bravada. Here is a link for you to get more information and parts you'll need and buy. http://www.s10v8.com/

Can I swap in a np 244 transfer case to replace my ailing np 243j without much hassle?

I having once owned a Trans Shop I would
ONLY rebuild your original factory unit

NEVER,NEVER install any used transfer or
trans, in any vehicle ( that is junk out & junk in)

Doubt anyone knows your exact questions answer

Not even the trans shops that work on them

If you do not do all your own work, your in a tough spot

Then you get a rebuilt unit from Jasper Engine & Trans
or other similar company & you get a warranty

Who will you get to diagnose the issues & R&R the transfer?

If your not the one doing ALL the repairs-- your in for an expensive
& possibly unhappy situation-- down the road

Unless you get a reman from a dealer

All trans shops I know, install a used salvage yard unit, then the
problems continue

Been there,done that

Just a heads up

My question: Why on a 2004 Vehicle, do you even have a problem?

Did it leak & run dry

Was it used when it wasn't working properly & continued on anyway?

Everything fails for a reason

Best find out why, before you start pulling out heavy components,
that may not be the issue

Hi There, have a 98 blazer just completed transmission swap. The transmission was running fine when it was pulled. At this point the transmission will not change from 2nd to third gear. Need to know if...

first thing to check are the electrical connections on the transmission to make sure no terminals got bent or pushed out during the swap. if all checks good the shift problem is most likely a bad shift solenoid and the inoperative speedometer is possibly bad vehicle speed sensor.

How to disengage all wheel drive to two wheel drive

if your awd or 4wd shift lever has the option for 2wd than put the trans in nuetral at a complete stop and put the shift lever for the transfer case in 2wd if there is no option for this selection than the only way is a labor intensive transfer case swap to a np 231 and it will be a couple of modifications to allow this to work. i hope this helps

Can i take out the transfer case and just make it 2 wheel drive the transfer case is busted

not without changing the whole transmission and driveshaft from a 2 wd jeep so the answer is yes you can but you should try to get a used transfer case and just swap it that would cost around 200.00 for a good used one hope this helps

Engine swap. color codes are different need wiring diagram

I've done several of these swaps that sound good at the time but end up being a Huge problem.I would start with the correct harness for the engine you've put in.It must include the under hood harness and what ever harness connects to it thru the firewall to the computer. You'll also need everything connected to the transmission to the computer including any thing connected with the brake and accelerator pedals.Next get the wiring diagrams from Jeep or buy the Chilton or Haynes manual, they have the diagrams included.Get the harnesses connected to the engine, trans and computer, then work backward towards hooking up everything else.I really feel your pain,I've put 20 year newer engines in older cars,V-8's where 6's were,an olds V-8 where a in-line six was(ford),Late model v-8 in a 59' Chevy. All these were simple compared to what your going thru. Please contact me if I can be of any help?

1994 Ford Ranger 4 wheel drive does not work. Lights turn on.

High mileage truck I am assuming? Sounds as though your transfer case chain has broken. You can get kits to replace the chain. Or, you can find a used one from a wrecking yard to swap into place. If the truck is good otherwise I would not give up on it. A transfer case could run you up to $600.00 depending on weather it's new or rebuilt. A kit can run you $200.00 to $300.00.
