Question about 1995 Chevrolet C1500

2 Answers

We have a 95 chevy pickup and the antilock brake light stays on, the heater fan won't work and the 4 wheel drive won't work. In the beginning when the fan worked the antilock brake wasn't on and the 4 wheel drive worked, so we think it is all connected. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

OK, the anti-lock light is most likely one of the sensors on the front wheels. You may need to clean th emounting surface back to shinny metal.

The 4WD is most likely the actuator on the front of the differential. Assuming there are no wiring issues. Be sure you are getting power to the actuator.

The heater motor runs on high, it is most likely the resistor block on top of the heater behind the dash. Sounds like a pain to get to, and it is worse than it sounds, sorry

If it runs on anything but high, might be the switch.

If it does not run at all, possibly the motor which requires a new motor. But it is an easy job and not very expensive.

Well the 4wd in a 1995 chevy is run by vacum and the slightest leak will make it not work or take forever to go into 4wd! My sloution would be to have someone put an electrical switch in so it goes directly into 4wd or find where you have a vacum leak and fix it if you can!!!

Possibly the brake light switch, and if the blinker lights just stay on when you turn them on, and don't blink , could be your blinker relay.

I have a 2005 Chevy trailblazer ls 4 wheel drive that we just replaced the wheel bearing/hub assembly and put new brakes and rotors on now the abs light came on and won't go off. How do we reset it?

You would need to check the computer for trouble codes, fix the problem, then erase the codes. If the codes do not return, the warning light should stay off.

Abs light stays on

The ABS light comes on and stays on when the Antilock Braking System (ABS) isn't working right. You should get it checked out. You don't want the brakes to fail.

My traction control lights keep coming on, and then my car says that the engine power is being decreased, and i'm on dry surface

That is your Antilock Brake/Traction Control computer going into what I call "False antilock mode" This is almost always caused by abad wheel speed sensor. Your vehicle is equipped with 4 of them. To diagnose this problem, you must drive the vehicle with a scanner hooked up that can read the wheel sensor data and find out which wheel sensor is not working properly. Sometimes (but not always) you get lucky and the Antilock Brake Control Module will set a code to tell you which one.

Abs and trac active dash lights are on

If they are coming on momentarily when you are driving in slick conditions this is normal operation. If they are staying on all the time, even when you are driving on dry pavement. there is a broblem with your Antilock Brake and Traction Control system. A very common problem is a wheel speed sensor that is malfunctioning. Your vehicle is equipped with 4 wheel speed sensors. You will have to access the data in the Antilock Brake Control Module to find out which one it is.

95 isuzu rodeo anti lock brake lite staying on and brake paddle moving up and down

You probably have a bad wheel speed sensor, Most likely the sensor is telling your antilock system to activate, causing your brake pedal to pulse under your foot, you may have to take it and get it diagnosed. or check the wiring harness's, make sure they are properly connected, behind the front brake caliper if your vehicle is equiped with 4 wheel antilock, and the rear antilock may be either behind your brake drum or caliper, depending on disc or drum brakes on the rear. Some Vehichles have a single speed sensor located usually near the center of your rear axle, instead of individual sensors on the rear. look for a wiring harness connecting to the rear axle. It will likely be the only wiring connected into your rear axle. Hope this helps

1991 Lincoln Towncar anti brake lock light stays on.

It's very possible you have a faulty wheel sensor. Look behind each wheel. Around the center you can see a wire harness attached. Check each wire harness for broken wires. I don't think this car has a self test to tell you which wheel has the problem. You will probably have to take it to the dealer and let them tell you.
When the antilock light comes on your cars system is telling you of a problem and also that you have standard brakes now and no antilock.
You can most probably drive normally as long as the system is staying full of brake fluid.
