This really depends on how many miles compiled with on time oil changes, synthetic oil or not,and how hard it was driven also, some go out at a average of 90,000 miles to 150,000 miles.

Timing chain replacement labor time

Is there a reason you are changing it, unlike a belt they do not really need changing every so many thousands of miles/kilometres. If there is no problem, I personally would be loath to change it. As for the time to change it, here is the first of various videos to help you, the others follow on.

Its behind the water pump and timing chain cover.
You'll need a book to get the directions to replace it.

How do you replace timing chain on 2001 ford windstar

If the chain is rattling and the engine still runs, the chain is not broke, but you may have a damaged tensioner that keeps it tight.
The timing parts are behind the timing cover on the passenger side of the engine, behind the water pump.
if you decide to tackle the job, get a repair book and read up on it first to see if you are up to the task.
