There likely is a spec for oil pan but unless you are a finatic, you really don't need to know what it is. Simple rule: Don't crank down ******* any fastener. If corners near crank ends have larger fasteners, you can tighten them a bit more than on siderails. Before tightening anything, install all bolts finger tight, to ensure that they are not cross threaded. To avoid warping pan, tighten from the center of the pan, working towards both ends, alternating from side to side as you go. When you are finished, go over it again, using the same amount of force on each bolt. As I said, end bolts can if larger in diameter, be tightened more but be careful not to tighten so much that you will either split or push the gasket out the sides.. Anywhere two gasket ends **** together, I recommend using a sensor -safe dab of silicone. An oil pan is not under any mechanical stress or pressure. I have used this method for many years and NEVER had one leak. If you really need #s, small fasteners get about 12-15in lbs, larger ones about 20.

1 torque all bolts to 22 ft/lbs
2 torque all bolts to 45 ft/lbs
3 recheck all bolts to 45 ft/lbs
4 torque bolts 1 thru 10 to 110 ft/lbs
bolt 11 to 100 ft/lbs
bolts 12 thru 14 to 110 ft/lbs
bolt #1 is the fourth bolt from the front on the passenger side....#2 is the fourth bolt on the drivers side then you continue in a clockwise order

Head bolt torque yield

90% of head bolts are stretched when installed. If you have the torque settings, you can confirm this by checking the specs. If it says example, 90lbs feet, plus a quarter turn, this confirms they are gonna stretch once torqued.
In any case, yes, change those head bolts at all costs. DO NOT RE-USE THEM. Make sure to torque and in the order as well. do not use a random pattern when torqueing.

HINT: The "torque pattern" on ALL cylinder heads is start in the center and work your way toward the ends. The specifications below are "torque-to yield" or "torque angle" specs. When in doubt, about 65 Ft. Lbs. will work on pretty much ANY aluminum head. The main point is to get them EVEN to prevent warpage.

I blew the head gasket on my 2002 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 L OHV. I am needing to know the torque specs so that I can have the gasket replaced tomorrow! A picture would be wonderful! Uncle is going to fix it but...

When torquing items today very little is done with just "numbers" in the process. Now you have to have an angle meter to complete the process so when you see me say to torque a specific number "plus so many degrees", this is how it's done. This is the meter:df03f54.gif Now, Here are the specs for installing the head:
Cylinder Head Bolt
  • First Pass
30 N·m
22 lb ft
  • Final Pass
155 degrees

Here is the sequence shown in picture form:
e8f4606.gif Also, you will need to discard the old bolts because they are "torque to yeild" bolts and CANNOT be reused. The reason: "Torque to yeild" bolts actually stretch during the torque process and once they've gone through this process they can't be reused because they no longer are able to "clamp" the head because they are too long. Need cylinder head gasket torque specs.

looks like there is special sequence to reassemble and tightening, a quick note replace any bolts that have two punch marks.tighten as follows: x x x x x 10 4 2 6 8 x x x x x 7 5 1 3 9 torque all down to 15 ft lbs torque to 30 ft lbs plus 90 degrees. Good luck!
