In my area, a fuel pump replacement will cost between $380-$550 (fuel pump is in the fuel tank). Battery replacement between $105-$175 (right front tire has to be removed). Costs vary between independent shops and dealers.

You can check your area here.

Cost replace fuel pump

Make sure it is not the Inertia cut-off switch or the crankshaft sensor. The pump also has a Relay in the Powerbox. Ford uses many of the same Relays in the Powerbox. Exchanging the Horn Relay with the fuel Relay will give you an opportunity to test the Relays.

You can call a Repair shop for pricing. There are books on Labor hours to do a job times the Labor rate as a standard. Much depends on moving the fuel out of the tank as a variable cost factor. You can Websearch pump prices, but it is up to the individual shop to sell the part for the price they can get. A few will install a customers part and just charge Labor.

I do not have a rate book, but I imagine 3 or 4 hours would be a minimum. A thorough shop will spend extra time flushing the tank for contaminants. Some shops would recommend sending the tank out for boiling and leak testing.

Again, before condemning the fuel pump check the other things I mentioned.

A reasonable price for the pump is $270.00. Labor should be around $50.00. The pump is very easy to get to.

How much does it cost to replace the fuel pump

That all depends on who is changing the pump and where you are going to get your parts from.
Are you planning on purchasing your own parts and replacing the fuel pump yourself? or are you planning on having a shop supply parts and labor?
If you are planning to have a shop do it, the best way to get a price is to contact the shop that you plan to go to. Labor rates can vary considerably from one shop to another. Parts prices can vary considerably too. Some shops may have a 40% mark-up and some can have as high as 80% mark-up on the parts.

Then there is the question of if you are planning to disassemble the fuel pump module and replace just the fuel pump or are you going to replace the entire fuel pump module assembly? Both ways are available for your Windstar (with some vehicles, you have no choice). The fuel pump costs less than half of the price of a module assembly. However, most shops will not honor any warranty if you do not replace the entire module (as well as also install a new fuel filter).

So, I can't really give you a total price because there are too many variables involved. However, I can give you the information below that you can use to compare and make sure that you are not getting ripped off...

Parts Cost (AutoZone.com)
Fuel Pump Module Assembly $212.00
Fuel Filter $10.99
Standard Labor Time Required
Replace Fuel Pump 2.1 Hours
Replace Fuel Filter 0.6 Hours

After filling the tank of the 06 expedition it has recently been slipping immediately to 1/2 or 3/4 full. How can i remedy this and why is it happening? Thanks.

the fuel sending unit is going bad. unfortunatlly it's located on the side of your fuel pump inside of the gas tank. and they do not only sell the sending unit by itself. you'll need to purchase the fuel pump in order to get the sending unit. the fuel tank will also need to be removed to replace the fuel pump as it's inside the gas tank.{most garages price the labor based on how much fuel is inside the gas tank} the gas tank is very heavy when it has alot of gas in it. i suggest that you shop around for prices on fuel pump and the labor to replace it. thank you for choosing fixya.com

Fair Price for fuel pump and filter replacement on 96 Ford Explor

the labor manual for a 1996 explorer fuel pump gives you 2.1 hours, if you figure in a labor rate of $65 dollars per hour your at $136.50 the cost of the pump is 141.49 is advanced auto price for the average person, list is 219.39 which is what most shops charge so by my figures based on what my shop would charge you should be some where between $300 to $400 depending on there labor rate and i did price the most expensive pump that advanced auto sells for that model so i would say there bill was way to high.
