2000 mercury grand marquis 4.6 Intermittent problem. 35,000. miles. Problem engine died several times wile driving. Also after car is parked from a drive will not start. Found that the fuel pump is not...

I'd have to test when problem is ongoing. When you first turn on key, no crank, you should hear the pump run for a few seconds then stop. For initial prime, the computer doesn't need rpm signal. Engine cranking, the computer needs to see rpm signal or it won't ground the fuel pump relay. W/o rpm signal, no spark at the plugs and no fuel injector pulse. I know your talking about fuel, but, when problem is ongoing, check spark and fuel injector pulse, engine cranking.
Intermittent problems are a pain, have to test when problem is ongoing.

1993 jeep takes long time to start after turning key on have changed gass pump have put new fuel pump module in fuse box when fuel pump was replaced it started good for a few days

have the key in ignition turn off all excessories so you can hear, turn key to on postion listen to see if pump is working, sounds like a power anttena noise,if you hear this, then have the fuel pressure regulator checked,as could be loosing pressure, causing the hard start issue,or the pump could be bad, listen to car, then go from there.

99 ford escort zx2 will turn over but not start p1000 code

P1000 just means drive cycle not complete for emissions testing.

Listen for your fuel pump to run, that might be the issue. If the engine sounds like it is turning over faster than normal, your timing belt is broken.

Car is running hot and I can smell gas fumes. Has no power going up a hill. I also hear a screaching sound. Checked the main belt but don;t see any problems. Could the idler pulley have something to do...

Remove belt and and check to see if water pump turns freely. It sounds like the water pump is not wanting to turn and that is causing the overheating and screaching sound. That could also cause loss of power.

Starter turns, battery is good but car won't start. Think that there is no fuel delivery.

turn the key over, but not to the start position, when you do this listen for a whirring sound from the rear of your car. this will be the fuel pump powering up. the sound only lasts about 2-3 seconds.if you dont hear this, then the fuel pump is bad. if you do hear it and still no start, then the ECM is bad.

Yes, it sounds like anti theft. Have you tried one of your other keys? They are coded to the the car and the ECU recognizes whether you are using a correctly coded key. If you just had the key cut, it is suspect. Start there.

Fuel issues

should hear a whirring humming sound from the fuel tank (if that is where the pump is located) just turn on the key and take off the gas cap you should hear it.
Also did you drain the fuel from the tank when you had it down ? after that many years the fuel would be "gummed" up.
