Check the battery voltage when the car is running. It should not be above 14.4 volts.
If that is OK check to see if you have a drain on system with key off. You will need an ammeter to this though. Most good voltmeter will have a 15 amp meter in them. That should be plenty. Take off the negative cable and connect the meter in line. There should be a very minimal draw, less that 1 amp. There will be some for the computer memory. If there is mote than that there is a draw on system and this could be the problem. Battery draining then charging to much will kill them.

If the voltage is below that rev engine a little and see if it comes up. If not the alt is bad and will need to be replaced.
Hope that helps

Bad Alternator?
Start the vehicle and while the engine is running: disconnect the Negative Cable off the Battery. If the engine dies, it is the alternator.
Bad Connections to the Battery?
Disconnect the Battery Cables from the Battery and using a Battery Cleaning Brush: brush the Post and the Cable Holes. Reconnect and tighten properly.

Ford Focus c max 1.8 petrol idle problems

This can be caused by a defective Maf sensor and coolant sensor, they will not trigger a code because as long as there is a signal the computer doesn't know the actual engine running condition enough to say the signal from the 2 sensors is wrong, this goes double for MAF sensors, another area is the idle speed control motor.. I want you to read about the problem at the link below.

I have a ford focus 1.8 diesel x reg 1999 girlfreind put petrol in it about 3weeks ago we have drained it all re fueled it and it started and run but now it wount start

poss the fuel filter has petrol in it,replace filter, turn engine over with fuel line unattached to clear lines then fire up,should be fine.you may hve a hot start problem for awhile but fill up with diesel at 1/2 tank to dilute any petrol left.in 32 years in the trade i have put petrol in so many diesel cars, and as long as it starts, keep it running, and start only when cold ish.
