It is good that you checked your gas cap, as that is a frequent cause of a check engine light, but there are also hundreds of other things too. A good idea is to go to your local auto parts store, and get your code downloaded for free, to see what tripped the light. Once you get that info, you can work towards the repair. I hope you get a cheap fix
