Question about 1999 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

Hello, the window on my 1999 Ford Expedition broke and can be moved up or down by your hand although the motor still works. I took it into the repair shop and they quoted me $283 to fix it. They said it was the "R&R Regulator ASSY.". I found a regulator online and how to fix it but I'm not sure if its the right part because the guy described the part as a pulley system and the regulator I found does not look like a pulley. Can you please tell me if I have the right part or what other part to look at? Here is the link to the regulator I found. Thank you

Why won't my window work

Check for:
(1) Bound mechanism - try testing the motor before installing, see if you can move the window up and down by hand.
(2) Good ground. Make sure you have both 12V & ground at the motor.
(3) Bad replacement motor. Although unlikely, you could have gotten a bad part. Try bench testing with a 12V battery.

How to raise a electric window manually on a 1999 ford expedition

Not to sure this can be done. Maybe if you took off the door panel, you could wedge something to hold it up. Most likely you need a new window lift motor. Some come with the regulator attached.

Repair back left dwindow

its called a window regulator.. this is the part responsible for positioning the window, and moving it up and down on a set path. sometimes the only part that is serviceable is the motor.. however once your in there your just going to want to replace the entire assemble in one shot..otherwise you may do the regulator today and a motor next week.. anyways price out from your big three auto parts stores a window regulator with motor.. usually around 100 dollars they are.. this job is not for everyone,so be careful.. and if your not me who uses a screwdriver to wedge the window up while i work, maybe have a friend help you.. cause if you put that screwdriver in wrong then you will shatter your window.. 15 years plus of experience tells me when to stop wedging it in.

Window cable broke so window does not go up and down

The window regulator cable on a Ford Expedition is part of the regulator assembly and is not serviceable separately. Therefore, if your Expedition's window regulator cable incurs damage, you'll need to replace the entire regulator. The cable moves the regulator up or down in response to the window motor. If the cable malfunctions, you won't have command of your Expedition's power window until you replace the regulator. If you have basic auto-repair skills and an hour of free time, you can replace your Expedition's window regulator. Pry the window switch bezel out of the Expedition's door panel using your trim tool. Disconnect the switch from the door harness by hand and set the switch/bezel assembly aside.

  • 2 Remove the hex head screws from the door panel using the Phillips screwdriver. Depending on the year of your Expedition, you may need to remove a trim cover from behind the inner door handle with the trim tool to expose that screw.
  • 3 Lift the door panel up and off the door by hand. If your Expedition has a courtesy light in the lower-trailing edge of the panel, disconnect that light from the door wiring harness before moving the panel away from the door.
  • 4 Push the Expedition's window to the top of the window frame by hand. Tape the glass to the top of the door with packing tape to prevent it from dropping back down.
  • 5 Remove the window regulator mounting bolts with the socket set. Unbolt the regulator from the window glass with the socket set. Pull the old regulator out of the Expedition's door by hand.
  • 6 Set the new window regulator into the Expedition's door by hand. Bolt it in place with the socket set.
  • 7 Reinstall the Expedition's door panel in reverse of how you removed it.

I have a 1999 pontiac grand prix. I put the window down today and it stopped halfway. I tried putting it back up but it would not move. I could hear the motor running both up and down but the window...

The cables on the window regulator broke or derailed, either way you need to replace the regulator to fix it. The regulator is the part that moves the window up and down.

1999 Ford Expedition, After putting driver's side window up and down this morning, this afternoon it won't go down. Does the window have a fuse that might need to be replaced?

Do you hear any noise when you activate the switch? If no, then the switch itself has gone bad or the electric motor is drawing too many amps to work. Remove the door panel and check the connector at the motor for power when you move the switch. If power, then the motor is bad.

First check what caused the problem. If the window was hard to put up and down then clean the running rails either side move the window up and down with your hand to make sure it is moving freely then just glue the window back to the track with glue recomended for it

1999 Ford Expedition LF window wont work.

If it is a motor problem, you can usaully hold the switch which ever way you want the window to go, and slam the door shut while holding the said switch. If it works then, you need the motor replaced. If not, you need to look at the switch itself, or make sure that the motor is getting power and ground when the button is pressed.
