Question about 2004 Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

The dealer said my 2004 Chrysler oil sending unit was leaking around the vent tube. I paid $259.00 to have it fixed because the oil light came on too. The light is fixed, but it is leaking again. What is an oil vent tube? I want to know before I take it back in. It has been 2 weeks since it was fixed.

It's probably your valve cover gasket leaking. I would take it back to dealership and have them repair under warranty. If they want to charge you for something new, DON'T let them fix anything, look on the internet for a shop close to you with GOOD reviews and have them double check the cause.

Where is the oil pressure sending unit located on the motor on 5.7 litter hiemi

Under neath the vehicle , near the oil filter , I believe on the passenger side. Look where the oil filter screws onto then look just right above it , it will most likely be wet with oil. (Chrysler oil senders tend to leak through the sensor itself. It should be a green connector to the sensor. Be careful it has a tab lock(red) remove tab lock disconnect sensor and unscrew. Replace it with either a napa brand sensor or dealer.

2004 chrysler pacifica oil light will flash and ding after coming to a stop

You have two problems going on.
The oil light is telling you the engine oil pressure is low. If the oil level is full, the sending unit for the light is faulty, or you actually do have low oil pressure.
The codes are for a leak in the EVAP system which could be the gas cap but could also be a number of other things. There are valves and hoses that could leak.
The engine oil pressure would need to be checked with a mechanical gauge, and the gas tank venting system would need to be tested for leaks.

Thats a sign that either you oil pressure sending unit is going bad, the oil pump is going bad, or you have sludge possibly restricting the oil flow thru the screen of the oil pump.

There is a updated oil pick up tube, call the dealer, and fix it ASAP. These engines are famous for timing chain and oil sludge issues.

Oil change resulted in $2000 quote for extras

The dealer is changing the hole fuel sending unit where as NAPA is sell you the replacement part to the fuel sending unit. The fuel sending unit has different components and can be replaced, GM Dealers will always replace the whole fuel sending unit and not service the fuel sending unit. Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted,, be glad to help.
