Question about Chrysler Town and Country

1 Answer

Chrysler 2001 - my brake pads are new, but someone said my rotors need to be changed. look like the Chrysler dealership that did my brake job, did a poor job. I have been having brake issues every since...... Is changing the rotors a diy job for my husband who has some car knowledge or should we take it to a mechanic. If so, is there a diy site to show you how to replace the rotors.

Replacing rotors is not an easy job but its not all that hard either, brake pads and calipers have to be removed, then the rotor, if your husband doesn't feel comfortable doing this i suggest you take it to a garage, they are your brakes after all :)

I ave a low growling noice and brake pedal pulses

As a general rule, if the wheel shakes when you apply the brakes, the front disk rotors are warped. If the brake pedal pulses when you apply brakes, the rear brake rotors are warped. So you most likely have warped rear brake rotors. The noise may be that the wear indicators on the brake pads are touching the disks, indicating that you need new brake pads. Given both of these, I suggest a trip to the local brake repair centre is needed.

What could be the problem with my car when there is a grinding noise as I turn my steering wheel to the left while driving

Brahe shoes wore and metal to metal rubbing, check wheel bearings, I would think you have the right size tires and are not rubbing.

Im driving a 2000 Chrysler 300M> I just had the break done and know I'm hearing a hissing noise when I break. What could this be and will it be very expensive to fix?

First, your question has to be translated. Do you mean brake(s)?

If so, and the person who did the brake job resurfaced the rotors, then you're probably hearing the pad lining rubbing the rough rotor surface when you apply the brakes. This is because the machines they use to resurface the rotors don't put the same smooth finish on them like a new one has. The rough surface in contact with the pad lining will make a noticeable sound until the rotors are burnished (worn smooth) from use.

On a side note: It's really not a very good idea to resurface brake rotors. They end up thinner, which makes heat dissapation more difficult. Rotors aren't that expensive. It's always best to replace them rather than resurfacing them.

Grinding noise from front wheel 02 pt cruiser

john, this could be the bearings in the hub end of the short shaft, the brake rotor, or the brake pad. I own a 2001 and have had this problem. It was the rotor, I don't know why they treat brakes like they do but I changed both rotors, and changed the struts while I was there. Hope this helps.

Two more cases of 2008 town and country brake wear

Dodge, Plymouth, and Chrysler minivans are notorious for poor longevity of the front brake pads. Also, the low friction material "squeel" tabs are none to brake off or just not do the job they are meant to do. That is why people end up haveing to replace their rotors. I am an ASE certified mechanic with just under 15 years of experience. I tell all my customers with Chrysler minivan products to have their brakes at least once a year to avoid costly repair bills. If you can catch your brake pads before they start grinding into the rotors that's an expense everyone can afford to not have.

I need to change front brake pads

You have two bolts to remove the caliper (it will still be attached to the flex hose). then use a C clamp to compress the caliper piston (one side on outside brake pad the other end on the back of the caliper). Inspect other components, replace pads and reinstall. I would highly recommend replacing rotors as well or at least having them turned. Its a pretty easy job if you have done similar jobs in the past.

Chrysler Voyager 2001 rear brake system

Take it back to the dealer who fixed it.
Driving with the rear brakes locked may have warped the rotors. Blue color is from excessive heat. Sounds like a preportioning valve in the brake system is faulty.
The dealer didn't do his job very well. Find another dealer.

PULSATION WHEN APPLY BRAKES

Even though you replaced the rotors, seems that you will still need to have them resurfaced. This assuming you are experiencing pulsation only when braking.
Hope this helps, Please remember to rate this answer.
