Question about 2002 Audi A4

1 Answer

Dealer said front right intercooler is broken and leaking oil on my 2007 A4 and they will have to remove my bumper. No damage to vehicle. Is this an easy fix? Can I temporarily drive until I find another mechanic?

Hi there,

Well yes you can temporarily drive to find another mechanic but make sure that do not run your car fast (because it causes some serious problems)......... but do not try to drive it to fine 3rd mechanic, it need repair asap......

When i pour winshield wiper fluid in the unit i notice it leaking under the car near the front middle and right front? i have a audi a4.

hey i got a audi a6 there is a hose clamp behind the bumper cover you'll have to look under the car in that corner. see if the hose came loose or the clip cam off of loose. you may have to remove your bumper cover to have better access to the hose.

My passat tdi intercooler is hissing what problems would i get

It is leaking boost pressure, which could leading to some fuelling issues but may not be serious as yet. I am sure the A4 TDi has a MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure) in the intercooler, which will adjust the fuelling to suit the actual pressure including the leak, but the performance will be down as the boost developed is less.

It may be a simple repair, possibilities are a cracked or split hose, loose jubilee clip, or cracked or split intercooler itself.

If it is in the same place as the 1.8T one (behind the passenger inner wing) then it will get a fair bit of spray and road debris thrown at it. You could repair a damaged intercooler with Araldite or some other epoxy resin if you find that's the culprit, and it will be good as new.

My intercooler is leaking oil

Intercooler is for a turbo charged or supercharged vehicle

you must mean your oil cooler you probably need to replace some clamps or the oil cooler lines they tend to break or become brittle after many years of use unless you hit something and cracked it. good luck

Front Bumper

Chances are the shop that initially replaced your bumper didn't do it right and the shoddy install left it sitting lower than it should have. Because of this, you were able to snag the bumper on the parking block. The reason you have to replace it is most likely the mounting bolt holes were torn out or otherwise damaged when the bumper was caught, and there is no longer a mounting surface to use with new mount bolts to put the bumper back on.
