May want to look at replacing the wiper circuit board. It is located on the firewall adjacent to the wiper motor and has a some what square black cover with 3 torx screws and wireing harness pluged into the side.We had a truck that every time you washed it the wipers would stay on until it dryed out.You can try removing it and spaying it down with contact cleaner just watch the brease on the two contact tips.Well hope this helps.

I had the same problem. Not all 1990 had the circuit board as mentioned, mine had a mechanical switching system. You can get a new/rebuilt wiper motor with the circuit board that will replace the existing motor and solve your problems, did for me!

Best guess would be to check for any pinched wires or any that have rubbed thru the insulation, If you find and Liquid electrical tape is the best fix for those hard to reach places.

The fact of your cruise control 'wont work with the wipers' is a deliberate safety feature. Many vehicles (especially Japanese Hi End cars) wont allow a driver to use CC in the rain.

Just bought a used 1990 keep wrangler. The turn signal k arm on the steer wheel is missing. Is the windshield wiper control on the turn signal arm as well? I do not see a place to turn on the wipers

just get one from a junk yard to remove it just push turn and pull the only thing is that if the car has cruise control you got to cut the wire... and to install it your car push in and turn wiper will work signals but no cruise control unless you go trough steering coloum

Windshield wipers have a mind of their own. Seems to be a short in the system, sometimes they work properly other times they won't but, I can hear the motor

if the problem is that they stop in the upward position the stopper on the plate that controls their motion might be bent, other issues can originate from wiring/connection problems or defects/damages to the controling systems.

1999 gmc sierra wipers will only run on high. Any idea why?

The wiper motor control module needs replacing. On some models you can replace the "pulse board". On some you must replace the wiper control module which mounts directly to the windshield wiper motor. This is a very common GM problem.

Windshield wiper motor

under the plastic cowl that the windshield wipers are on top of. removal of the wipers is nessecary. then removal of the cowl is next. and underneath all that should be the motor.

OR sometimes it is mounted on the firewall in the engine bay on either side usually can't miss it.
