Question about Chevrolet Blazer

2 Answers

Hello. I am writing to inquire about my remote starter. I bought this Vehicle used, back in 2006. It is a 2002 Chevy Blazer ZR2 w/ Remote start. I do not know for sure if this is factory remote or not (the vehicle came w/out a car booklet.) Anyway, my question to you is I was awakened last eve in the middle of the night to my SUV having started on its own. The whole family was in bed sleeping, my daughter awoken to it and informed me. She also asked if I had left the house shortly after they went to bed because it had started then as well and they assumed I had left. I did not go anywhere (can't hear vehicles in our driveway from the living room. The keys were where they always are. Have you EVER heard of this? The only thing I can think of myself would be that I live below a small Airport that pilots punch in a frequency code in order for the lights to come on for the runways....could this have anything to do w/ it?

Hi sorry, Please do not take it personal - I actually did not recieve all of what I see now for an answer. Only the link to the PDF file. Not sure if it is the network I am working through or a delay in it like chat gets sometimes....but I did recieve it now. Thank you for your answer. It was quite a peculiar thing - I have lived in the same place since I have owned this and have never had this happen before (ok - that I know of), and wondered if the planes radio frequencies could be in play here. Again this is reassuring to me, my fear was it was something electrical and I would one day go home to a burned up vehicle.
:( that would make me sad. I love my Blazer. Again, thank you - Tam

As far as the fact have i ever heard of this happening the answer is yes, I firmly believe this problem was most likely die to spurious (all the radio waves floating around) radio noise picked up by the remote start receiver of the remote start, there is really nothing to do about this, the frequency this unit operates under is fixed and you can't change it, if your truck is parked outside that makes it worse for this type of issue.

Good day, i believe you are right regarding your thoughts bout the frequency. though remote start has encrypted frequencies , what do we know if the frequency in your place can decrypt it. hope this helps. have a nice day

Have you checked the purple wire directly at the starter for power when the key is turned to start? Is the vehicle equipped with any type of remote start or alarm system?

was the distributor move, sometimes the rotor in the distributor will move just a hair. turn the motor by hand to tdc and see where the rotor is pointing

1999 chevy blazer wiring harness diagram for remote start

Large purple wire is your starter engagement wire, I believe you will have to tie into more than that wire to get your remote start to work properly, maybe get me brand and model number so I may research more and point you in the right direction as far as installation goes.

2000 Chevy Blazer Won't Start

You can check the manual that came with the Remote starter.
If you do not have one try look it up on line.
You can try call the people that install that kind of remote starter.
Some started do a lot more than start your car and the only way to know is to look at the manual.
You are trying to find out if it is has a ignition kill command.

Starting Problems AGAIN

Personally, I would return it to the dealer and state that is still not fixed.
When the remote start / security system was removed or disconnected, the starter circuit would have had to be rewired as the remote start / security system prevents the starter from engaging.
The wire splicing that would have had to take place may still be a problem.
If you would rather diagnose this problem your self I will be happy to help.
Let me know.
Regards,.

a factory keyless entry will not have an override but it does not disable starter.if you are have security issues it is problem with passlock system. if it is aftermarket alarm system then there is a button somewhere but varies where installer put it

Reprogramming the factory remote starter on a 2008 Chevy Siverado

No, its a Auto-Anti-Theft Unit, your best bet would be to buy a $100 kit from auto zone. The Stick unit is built that way because if you start it and walk away, I can use a blank key to unlock the ignition and drive off.
