Will fuel pump relay cause the starter not to work on 2001 Ford Taurus SEL and what is a PCM

ecm/pcm is the vehicles computer. (engine/powertrain control module)

The vehicles computer uses relays to send and recieve signals. To communicate with varuous parts of the car.
If the fuel pump relay is faulty, the ECM cannot tell the fuel pump when to kickon.

An eazy check to see if fuel pump is kicking on is to remove the fuel cap,and have a helper turn the ignition to on, you will hear the fuel pump turn on. If not the fuel pump relay is one place to check.
this relay will not effect the starter.
Starter needs atleast 10v supplied from the battery work properly.

What is the fuel issue?

Under hood fuse/relay panels on these are bad for water., when it is a hard rain. If 303 is the fuel relay, it wasn't fixed. I have tore panels like these apart to see what was wrong. And they are a mess. Copper wires get hot and bend, shorting out all kinds or fuses and relays. I just replace them now. And cover them. All I can figure is water pours threw them on hard rains. Even when the vehicle is sitting. Repaired many of them.

Sorry i forgot to mention with the lights only working on high beam it's a ford econovan maxi auto 94 do you think its a fuse?

could be the switch stalk if also no dash board lights. Check if voltage going to relay with volt meter or 12V light probe
you can pull out relay and check terminals or jump wire to do relay function to test fuse and globe. A determine if swich is faulty

1995 Ford Explorer battery, starter, and alternator are good. Why won't it turn over?

Don't listen to this other guy , he doesn't have a clue ! Check the starter relay ,Transmission range sensor ! Does yours have a anti-theft system ? If so there is a anti-theft relay to check all so ! Also check fuse #24 15amp in the interior fuse panel ! Is this a automatic trans . or stick ? There is no ECM involved in the starting of this vehicle ! If you are unfamiliar with any of this components your better off taking to a professional , before you just replace parts ! you need a volt meter an a good wiring diagram ! You can test right from the starter relay , check for voltage ! Does yours have a relay on the passenger side inside fender ?

My 1995 ford f-150 makes a clackeing noise when i try to start i have replaced the starter and it worked for two weeks and replaced the positve wireing what could it be

You may be having problems with the Starter Relay. There is a small wire on the Relay which runs back to the Ignition switch. If you put a testlight on the end of this wire and turn the Ignition key to START, there should be a steady current going to this small wire. If the testlight cuts out, the Ignition switch is bad. If the testlight works every time, then most likely the Starter relay is bad.

Or you can just change the Starter Relay and forget testing the small wire. You might want to go to Autozone, Oreillys or Advance for a starter Draw test of the new starter after you replace the Relay. Then have them do a test for the Battery to see if it is shorting under a load.

I hope you find my solution very helpful.

New starter, new relay and new battery...problem is...when I shut off engine and 30 minutes later went out to start again the key turned and nothing was like the battery was completely dead....

I suspect you have a loose or corroded connection. you should be able to check voltage at relay and if good, jump across from cable coming from battery to terminal from ignition switch. or u can bypass the relay completely by using a jumper cable to go from battery pos to output cable on relay that goes to starter.

Need wiring diagram

Go to and register they have good wiring diagrams for your truck. What I saw was all the relays going to ground so you should have 12V coming off the ignition switch.
