Are you getting codes for incorrect gear ratio and shift solenoids? if so then you are in need of a complete transmission overhaul.
However before you do that, check on the drivers side of the engine compartment under the battery tray is a wiring harness that runs next to the transmission, after a leaky battery and years of service, the pink wire that goes from the tranny control module, on the passengers fender, to the tranny gets corroded and brakes inside the insulation, check powers and grounds and if all is ok then bring it to a tranny shop, the sun gear brakes alot in those units, had the same problem on my cousins 3.3L and had to do an overhaul.
sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

ok, so you changed the transmission, all sensors, and checked the electrical wiring and its still doing the same thing? have you then tried changing the transmission computer? What codes are you getting exactly. I am a past dodge teachnician with an A standing and am now an automotive diagnostician who has dealt with this problem within the last 3 months.

97 caravan check engine light, transmission will not up shift from 1st.

The only reasonable part is the labor charge. I couldn't second-guess the shop's recommendation, maybe both parts are needed, but you could have them replace the shift solenoid, and try driving it for awhile, see what happens. Then if you need the TCM, try a used one from a salvager for less than half the cost of new. That is something you could install yourself.
Whatever you decide, good luck.

99 Dodge caravan - Check engine light on, limp mode, no speedometer. What's up with this trusted friend?

Its very possible that the transmission output speed sensor has gone bad. The output speed sensor is what the speedometer reads for vehicle speed. When you open the hood and look straight down at the front of the transmission you will see two sensors that screw into the side of the transmission case that are about the size of a half dollar, the output speed sensor will be the one on the far right side.

Replaced trans because i could not get out of limp mode i replaced sensors, relays, tcm, grounds and checked all wiring. now new trans is in limp if i reset it the trans shifts great once you restart it back...

This usually points to a sensor issue or a computer failure.

What diagnostics have been done with a diagnostic data scanner. If its in limp mode what codes did you have before and what codes do you have now. ??

And what year vehicle are we talking about here??

P0700, P0750 and P0755 codes I was driving at 65 mph and the 2003 Dodge Caravan down shifter to low gear and the check engine light came on. It will not ship to high gear.

P0700 (M)
Check Transmission DTC's
This code indicates that the EATX (Transmission controller) has an active fault and has illuminated the MIL via a BUS message. The specific fault must be acquired from the EATX via a DRBIII tool. (Input or Output Speed Sensor failures often cause this code and are a common failure part on WJ Grand Cherokees

P0750
Shift Solenoid circuit.
Note: If code P1767 (Transmission Relay Always On) is also present: Replace transmission solenoid assembly. See note provided. When transmission is in limp mode the relay that provides power to the solenoid group is switched off. This is normal and is designed to provide operation in one gear only. Engineering department suggests to replace transmission solenoid assembly anytime these two trouble codes occur together. See applicable service manual section (21) for solenoid assembly replacement directions. IMPORTANT: When performing this repair always check torque on all valvebody accumulator cover plate screws. Proper torque specification is 70 inch pounds. If any accumulator cover plate screws are damaged or missing replace the valvebody assembly. NOTE: If any other trouble codes are present do not replace solenoid assembly. See test in the applicable Transmission Diagnostic Procedures Manual

2002 Dodge Caravan with approx. 66,000 miles, check engine light came on, seemed to have stayed in 2nd gear. Could it be a pac solenoid transmission problem?

You need to find someone who can pull the codes from the transmission and see what kind of trans fault it is. If there is a fault in the trans the controller will put it into limp in mode which is 2nd gear locked. Won't shift out of 2nd...You need to pull the codes and see if it is internal in the trans or an external sensor-Good Luck

THERE MUST BE SOME FAULT CODES STORED IN TCM..WHEN A FAULT OCCURS,THE TCM SHUTS THE POWER FEED OFF TO THE SHIFT SOLENOIDS IN THE SOLENOID PACK SO ALL YOU HAVE IS SECOND GEAR(LIMP MODE)..IS YOUR SPEEDOMETER WORKING?IF NOT IT MAY BE THE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR IS BAD..YOU SHOULD GET TCM SCANNED FOR FAULT CODES..I HOPE THIS HELPS

1999 Dodge Caravan transmission related problem.

At a shop I worked at, another mechanic had actually replaced the tranny. Afterwards same thing (I may be assuming this is the automatic with overdrive). After running a test with a DRB II (Chrysler scan tool) we found out the output shaft sensor would work for a while then stop working, sending the tranny into limp home mode (when replacing the tranny he pulled the old sensors off and put them in the new tranny). They replaced a $2500 tranny over a $45 sensor.
This is just one of several things it could be, but it could be the cheapest place to start and is easy to diagnose with the right equipment.

2002 Dodge Intrepid transmission not shifting

Flush out your transmission with the correct type fluid, Mopar ATF+4, and correct filter. Disconnect Negative cable, to reset computer, for at least 24 hours. Check grounding straps for PCM, ensure they are tight and clean.
This method worked on my 2003 Intrepid SE, 3.5L, Police Pkg car.
Good Luck!!
