I have a full tank of oil but my oil light keeps lighting up. How much will it cost to fix it? Also, when it lights up my car feels like it is going to break down. My engine light goes on every now and than too. I have a 2001 plymouth neon.

The oil level sensor is located on the side of the oil pan on the engine, this sensor is about $40 and about the same to install it, so u should be good for about $100, as far as the engine light goes u will need a test to see what is turning the light on, it stores a fault code in the control computers memory when it comes on.

The oil light comes on because there is no pressure. The engine light comes on because there is no oil or overheat problem that is probably oil related.

To replace a oil pump I would guess somewhere in the neighborhood of $500.00. It may be some other problem, however.

This will not get better. Get it fixed or be prepared to start walking.

Oil light keeps coming on when there is oil, how to fix sensor light

The light is likely fine. There is a sensor on the engine that senses the oil pressure. Either the sensor has gone bad, or you have low oil pressure.
Replacing the sensor isn't difficult, but if you have low oil pressure, that can cause the whole engine to go bad, and cost you a whole lot.

Take it to a mechanic and have them measure the oil pressure. If it's ok, they can replace the sensor and you'll be fine.

It could be doing its job, sounds like what you put in tank is problem. Oil change would not cause that. I would not worry unless it keeps going after fuels runs down.

The oil light keep flashing when i am driving but my oil was change and is full

If car drives and feels normal it could be just a bad sending unit but things need to be checked. The sending unit can be unscrewed and a gauge attached to see actual pressure if pressure is good change sending unit if it's not.... Easiest and cheapest is SEAFOAM. LUCAS also makes a good product to raise oil pressure

Oil light keeps going off

Do you mean the oil light keeps coming on ?
If it is the oil pressure warning light, and the engine oil level is full, the sending unit could be faulty.

If you have an oil pressure sensor light that keeps coming on even, if you have just filled up your oil tank to the optimized level, then there's a good chance that it's the oil pressure sensor that's not working. If the light sensor is coming on and off while you are driving, it's most likely a faulty oil pressure sensor. But to make sure, always check your oil tank whenever the light comes on again. If the oil level is still up to the desired level, then it's definitely an oil pressure sensor. This calls for an oil pressure sensor replacement, which is far better than having an engine repaired. It will only cost a couple of bucks to replace a sensor. if above fails, have the oil pressure checked it could be a plugged up oil pump. have a good day !! check the wiring to sensor also.

I have a 2000 mercury Cougar and I need help. One day while driving i heard a loud squeaking sound (like a belt) then the oil light came on, and the car died on me. Wouldn't start up until about 15 minutes...

The oil light is triggered by only one thing - the oil pressure in the engine is too low. Without oil the metal parts of the engine rub themselves directly, causing the sound you heard. Running the engine without oil is a sure way to completely destroy it extremely quickly - under no circumstance you should run the engine in this condition.
Only one thing can cause the lack of oil pressure: a failed oil pump. The fix is simple: you drop the oil pan and you replace the oil pump. If a mechanic can't diagnose that then either is an idiot or is trying to scam you. Take your car to a real mechanic's shop and have it fixed.
And from now on stay away from these dishonest shops which almost surely have milked you of your money long enough: fuel pump replaced 7 times?? the gauges??? fuel tank???? Really??!??
