Question about 2000 Chrysler Town & Country

1 Answer

Hard starting when cold

My 2000 town & country just started acting up. Had a tune up done & water pump changed. It still has trouble starting when it is cold. You have to pump gas to get it to start now & also when it does start it will die a couple times and when it does stay running it does not sound right the rpm is not set right it drops to 500 then u put your break on & it dies. Sounds puttery. I ordered a Idle air motor for it hope that will help. Had it put on computer & is showing nothing is wrong.

Van will not fire turn key off and on several times and it starts

Use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Cycling the key on and off several times before you crank it, allows the fuel pump to prime the system.

2000 town and country wont cold start

Assuming the check engine light is not on, I would check the fuel pressure with a gauge before and after startup.
Could be a fuel pump relay or the pump, among other things.

Location of this mystery relay fan switch.

Look at the left (driverside) framerail near the radiator support. You can get to it from underneath, it has two small sheet metal screws holding it to the inner framerail. The framerail acts as a heatsink.

Trouble starting. cold or hot

What I don't understand is why mechanic said it would be hard starting in cold, if he actually fixed the choke. My guess is that there is still something wrong with the choke. If you pump the pedal 2 or 3 times, then put to floor & let it up slowly, before starting cold, does that help?

Heater not blowing warm air

yes it is. when you replaced the water pump you most likely got a vapor lock in the system. meanig you got air caught in the lines and the best way to get it out is relaese top water pump line and fill with antifreez and then replace line to the water pump. and see what happens. hope this works for you. let me know.
