Question about 1999 Chevrolet Blazer
Belt broke will driving, engine got hot, awful racket - parked the blazer and visually it appears that a wheel that is attached to the bracket off of the alternator is bent - what part is this and can it be repaired at home or does it require a mechanic?
Sounds like the idler pulley that's used to adjust belt tension. They usually fail around 100,000 miles, but the good news is that it's an easy replacement. Just be sure to get a genuine GM part. A parts store brand might only last 25 or 30,000 miles.
