Question about 2006 Buick LaCrosse

1 Answer

When I make a sharp left turn at 20 mph or so (coming off expressway ramp) I get a whining noise which then whines in time with the transmission gear changes. It goes away after a while. This is on a 2006 Buick Lacrosse with 75,000 miles.

1997 GMC V8 Transmission will not go into reverse

Time for a rebuild or replace. Clutches burnt, bands worn out , torque converter whining or worse, planetary gears.

Makes whining noise

This could be a stuck Bendix gear. The Bendix gear is the gear that engages with the flywheel on the engine when you start the car, and if it hasn't retracted it will whine.

Check with a local garage, but do so soon.

Whining noise progressively gets louder with speed

One wheel turning faster than the other is normal if both wheels are off the ground. If one wheel is dragging when the other wheel is on the ground, it could be brakes or a wheel hub bearing.
Usually if the noise happens on right turns, the left hub bearing is failing, and vice versa.

I have a whining noise coming from my 1999 Mercury Sable. Starts at about 20 MPH and increases getting the loudest around 40-60 mph then holds steady, have shifted to nuetral and whining stays. I believe...

Could be anything connected with the front wheels.
So that includes hub-wheel bearings, axle joints, the differential gears, and the transmission.

Whining noise coming from transmission

Sounds like nothing to do with the engine unless it increases with RPM out of gear. Can't be the fly wheel as what possible issue would make a piece of metal whine. Probably the tensioner pulley on the new belt.

I have a rear whinning noise when i drive i checked diff fluid and filled and still have noise only happens when driving

It can be gear whine, bearing whine, it needs to be listened to by a tech to decide which, but generally the gears are noisy only at certain speeds that would be around 45-65 MPH and it would come and go with being on and off the throttle. Bearing noise is there all the time.

My 2000 Buick LeSabre whines and will not shift into any forward gears. It also has a very loud whining noise. Car starts fine and I am able to put the car in to reverse. Once I put the car in Drive it...

it does sound like the transmission has packed it in. you might be able to find a decent used one via a wrecking yard and get a local mechanic to install it.
try to find one out of a car with under 100K miles on it.

Whine when air conditioner compressor engaged at lower speeds

If it is coming from under the hood(whine)then the ac compressor is either low on oil,or it is about to go out.Sometimes ac compressors will last a good long time, but sometimes they whine right before they lock up.So look for some ac compressor problems.Have a mechanic check it out,but it will most likely need to be changed out(compressor and components).

Whining noise when engaging 1st or reverse.

i had a nissan pickup that would whine in all gears except 4th...it started out with 1st then reverse then went to the rest...solution was new transmission...or rebuild cause the syncronizers or the gears them selves are being chewed up...the new transmission was cheaper then a rebuild. or take it to somewhere that will do free diag on the transmission.
