Question about Porsche 911

Porsche 911/993 94.Engine stop when he goes in 4-5 minutes.no signal from the primary coil.when its cold outside-10 degries celsius,its take more time before he stop.Is it a sensor or is it a computer problem.No code faul

the following may help pinpoint the problem.

Does the engine just die suddenly? If so, this indicates the fault is on the electrical side of things. If the engine splutters, tries to keep going and then dies, it is indicative of a fuel problem.

Have you noticed also if the engine cuts out only when starting from cold and the problem disappears when the engine is up to normal running temperature? Or is the fault more intermittent than that.
There might be several causes as to why the engine goes dead while running. One of the reasons might be that the engine might be over worked and hence has become incapable of over exerting itself. In such cases it is better to change the faulty engine.

It may also be due to a loose or faulty electrical connection in the ignition circuit or may be caused as a result of vacuum leak at the carburettor, throttle body or inlet manifold. It can also be caused as result of fuel injection system fault.

The primary ignition coil will be overheated after few minutes from engine start. When outside it's cold weather this period of time until engine stops will be increased. Also no code fault from Engine Control Module (ECM). Therefore you can try to replace the ignition coil with another one in good condition, and run the engine. I guess that the old engine ignition coil is out of order.

I would take a hair dryer and start to blow dry the coil, all the electrical wires that are attached to the ignition system, is a 12v tester to check primary circuit ( clip the coil + and touch the ground to see if you have elec flow, touch the frame of the car ) if it lit up then I would take the coil to have your mechanic check out if the coil is ok. Then get one of those spark plug wire ignition tester, it just clip on to the ignition wire and turn the motor, just test all 4 wire just to make sure, then the last thing to check is spark plugs, u can remove them but have them rest touching the engine block, turn it over n u shud get sparks going, o/w is the plugs, just replaced them is only like 10-12 bucks each.

Hot starting problems are usually fuel related. When a hot engine is shut off, the temperature of the engine and everything on it continues to rise for awhile as the engine undergoes a period of "heat soak." This can cause fuel to boil inside the carburetor bowl, fuel lines and fuel filter. When you attempt to restart the engine, "vapor lock" obstructs the flow of fuel and the engine doesn't want to start.
This is much less of a problem on fuel injected engines because the fuel is usually under much higher pressure inside the injectors and fuel line. Even so, a fuel line routed near an exhaust manifold or a fuel rail that's exposed to a lot of heat may still suffer the same kind of problems.
Heat soak problems such as these can sometimes be cured by wrapping insulation around affected fuel lines, and/or installing an insulating spacer or heat shield under the carburetor.

When cold in mornings when back up then shift into


Every car needs a heating engine time specially when its cold, I recomend like about 5 to 10 minutes after you start engine and before you change from P to D. If you try to start the engine first time in the morning, it's cold outside and you immediately go on run you are going to have this trouble every time. Every engine has it's operational standard temperature a 5 to 10 minutes working engine, car stopped, may guaranty this standard temperature and optimal function conditions, and also keeps a longer life of your car.

How can we check the ignitor and coil ? what are the specs?


What engine do you have? You could still hear your fuel pump running but if you haven't checked the fuel pressure you may still have a problem with your fuel pump. You should be around 38 to 44 PSI when key is turned on not running. Did you verify you are getting spark or is there nothing to the plugs? Your ignition coil resistance should be (cold 9000-15,400 ohms) Primary should be .36-.55.
Your pickup coil resistance depending whether you are California or excluding California
California is
cold- pick up coil terminals G1 & G- Ohms 125-200
cold-Pick up coil terminals G2 & G- Ohms 125-200
cold-Pick up Coil terminals NE & G- Ohms 155-250
Ex. California models
cold-Pick up coil terminals G+ & G- Ohms 185-275
Cold-Pick up coil terminals NE+ & NE- Ohms 370-550 ohms
You also need to check air gap between PIck-up Coil & Signal rotor
California is .008-.020
Except California .008-.016
