Why does the R P M gauge pointer jump up when the engine misfires ?

Based upon the symptom described, my best guess would be a faulty crankshaft position sensor.

Toyota pickup 94 model cant get spark plugs 2 fire replaced pickup coil igniter rotor buton wires cap coil fires plugs wont

I had to replace the magnetic pick-up sensor on the side of the distributor that tells the coil when to fire on my 86 truck. It was $80 and slips onto the distributor held on by the cap.

Looking for a Wiring diagram for the ignition coil on a Cadillac fleetwood 1991

There is not much to a wiring diagram for the ignition coil on that vehicle. The coil connections are all made inside the distributor. One ignition feed wire and the rest is self-conained within the distributor housing.

I have a 1983 s 10 distributor with vacuum advance, there is a module in the distributor that has 4 prongs on it, 2 go to the coil pick up in the distributor but i dont know where the other 2 go. this...

Most of the time with a 4 pn module two pins on one end and two on the other.603349827.jpgThe one end plugs into the distbutor pickup and the other is the ground to the coil and the power wire to the coil. feeding though the cap harness. If the coil is in the cap or to the grond and power side of the stand alone coil. The model is marked with a plus where the power wire goes and a (-) where the coil negitive goes.

No fire at the spark plugs

If you have a 2.2 L , 5SFE engine, chances are high that the distributor is faulty. I've replaced mine every 3 years. I started reading about this, and found out that oil gets inside of it due to a seal going bad. According to others, the bearing for the distributor gets oiled from oil mist due to it's location under the valve cover. The seal fails and kills your coil or pickups. It's an all in one unit, so any one part failing takes the whole thing down. You'll know if your distributor is the same as mine if you do not see a 5th spark plug wire, you will only see 4 spark plug wires, a 2 prong plug, and a 4 prong plug. The 2 prong plug is the 12 Volt supply to the coil primary. The 4 prong plug is the pickup feed to the ECU.

93 chevy 1500 v6 keeps dying out.

Connect a voltmeter set on ac volts to the pickup coil wires (disconnected from the module) and crank the engine.

2. The pick-up coil output should be more than 0.7v AC. If not, replace the pick up coil and distributor shaft.

3. Visually inspect the condition of the magnet on top of the distributor shaft to be in good condition. If not, replace the distributor

1. Disconnect the set timing connector or ground the Tan/Black bypass wire.

2. The check engine light should come on and code 42 should set.

3. If the engine stops stalling, disconnect the pick up coil connector at the Ignition Control Module (ICM).

4. Check acv output from the pick up coil while cranking the engine at a normal cranking speed.

5. If output is less than 700 mv replace the distributor shaft with a new one.
