6.0 2004 F-250 was starting hard when cold, replaced glow plugs &harness still starts hard runs rough, glow plug light stays on longer now though

time for replacement of or severe cleaning with fuelinjection cleaner..also if diesel, add cold start to the fuel system..check and replace oil filter type fuel filter since jelling of fuel may be a cold start issue..crack open an injector line and see if injector pump is pushing fuel really well..and see if air cleaner needs replaced blackened element is not good..good luck..

Hard cold start for 99 intrepd w2.7l/ ok hot/set check eng lite

Check your Fuel Filter, especially if your in a cold climate that has already reached freezing temps. If you have any moisture in your fuel system and the freezing temps have arrived the filter and injectors can freeze up slightly causing this type of problem. If this was happening in warmer temperatures check the fuel system for pin hole leaks that could be allowing the air into the system.

When motor is cold ,it wont idle when started runs ok when engen warms up

this is a very common problem with these year ford explorer, the intake manifold (upper ) gaskets are made of a rubber or neoprene type material and in time they get very hard. they seem to seal up fine when there warm due to the expansion of the seals, but on a cold cold start they have shrunk and allow them to leak causing a large vacuum leak. replace these gaskets and your problem should be solved.

Engine hard start sometimes spcially after long travil

probably not that. it is more than likely the cold water temp sensor. this puts more fuel to the engine when cold and acts like a choke.

HARD TO START ENGINE WHEN IS VERY COLD

I read the other two solutions top your problem and I have to say, some people should not give advice, because the advice they are giving is not worth anything. NOW, let me tell you what is wrong with your car. You have a defective IAC (Idle Air Control) value. The IAC value (sometimes called a cold start value) is used as a means to quickly start your car when it is cold outside. Replace the IAC (easy to do) and your problem will be solved..
