This is a common failure of these types of seats. There is only one true way to fix it and that is to replace it. You might want to try looking for the seat in a salvage yard to save some money. Otherwise find a dealer and see if there are any recalls on the seats and if not get ready to spend some money. I would say that you could do other things BUT the seat is integral to surviving in a crash and therefore it needs to be replaced.

My 2001 Nissan Altima driver's side seat has all motion except backwards. How can I get it to go backwards?

the backward motor has quit working, go to junk yard and find same car in your year range up or down pay particular attention to how your seat track looks. designs change every three or four years. it must be exact or it will not work.

Why wont my Nissan drivers seat move forward and back?

check for the release wire fully releasing the lock on that side. when you pull on the release lever it is to pull both release locks so the seat will move.

Electric seats will only go one way

You need to check for power at the motor when you try to activate the switch. If there's power then you have a drive cable issue. If this is a manual seat then the problem is the actuator assembly itself, the cable, mechanism, etc. Remove the seat & take a good look at it. You'll see a problem, write back.

Front seat locked in recline,

I just bought a 2005 Nissan Altima that had the same problem. You really can't bring the seat back up without removing the motor and manually turning the metal rod. The motor in my case was fine. I opened the switch and found that a trace on the small circuit board was cut/missing. I soldered it on the spot and it solved the problem. You can access the switch by carefully prying off the switch buttons, then the plate. There are two screws that must be removed so that you can pull the switch assembly out of the seat.

The lever to move the driver's seat forward and backward doesn't

The reason is that your sliding grips have been slipped and therefore jammed at one position.

Remove the seat open it's sliding grips and replace it.
