This is a common failure of these types of seats. There is only one true way to fix it and that is to replace it. You might want to try looking for the seat in a salvage yard to save some money. Otherwise find a dealer and see if there are any recalls on the seats and if not get ready to spend some money. I would say that you could do other things BUT the seat is integral to surviving in a crash and therefore it needs to be replaced.
