Low coolant level or a bad/worn water pump. Could also be partially clogged heater core, but that usually shows up over a long period of time.

I have a 2003 chevy impala. Just recently come acrossed in issue where the heater blows nothing but cold air even with the temp gauge going as high as it can get. Weather its at an idle or being driven....

providing your coolant is full cause low coolant will cause no heat
and your temp gauge is normal in the middle then most likely u have a bad blend door actuator usually on the passenger side

2004 Kia low heat at idle hiway speeds ok

1) Coolant tank may show full but radiator is low in coolant...Cold engine...remove cap...inspect coolant level in radiator...fill if necessary,,,
2) If #1 is OK, the coolant system has an air blockage...With cold engine remove cap...Start engine...Heat control on high... when thermostat opens coolant AND air will escape from radiator...there will be coolant loss...Wait until all air escapes then carefully replace cap...When engine cools remove cap and top off coolant if required.....saailer

No heat even though the engine temp is perfect

sounds like air has entered the cooling system or there is a blockage in the heater core.

right renew the glow plug timer/relay if you put a meter on the glow plugs when cold and turn ign on (with help) it should supply power for a about 20 secs ,time depends on outside air temperature ,if all else fails then do a colin --- use a push button switch, wired to a relay so glow plugs can be operated by pushing the switch which you will mount on the dash ,cant beat a manual overide system

Chevy astro van heater blowes only cold air

the problem is probably the heater core, it can become clogged with dribris. this stops heat from the engine getting to it and then no heat.

What do i do if overheating

Hi,

To "heat up" is normal. We want the car to heat up, but to go any higher than about 225 degrees would be to overheat, and that would be bad. If that is what you mean, then there are a number of things that could be causing it. It could be as simple as to high of a concentration of anti-freeze to water mixture(should be a bout 50%), to something as costlty as a blown head gasket. The water pump could have the impellers rusted off and not pumping, the radiator could be stopped up, there could be air trapped i the cooling system, there could be an obstruction to air flow in front of the radiator like leaves trapped in front of it, the cooling fan may not be working, even the thermostat you installed could be defective or installed backwards. It boils down to this: You either have a coolant flow or an air flow problem. (I am including the blown headgasket in the coolant flow catagory) As simple way to narrow it down is when then car is running hot, put your hand on the radiator. If the radiator is hot, then you probably have an air flow problem, see if the fan is working, or there are leaves in front of the radiator. If the radiator is cold, then you have a coolant flow problem, something is keeping coolant from flowwing into the radiator. (water pump, ai in the system, stopped up radiator, etc)

Thanks.
