I JUST replaced the starter about a month ago. I did a load test a few months before that and it said there was a problem with one of the diods in the alternator. I think the battery is bad though too, it's fairly old and I was attempting to start my car with a jump thinking the battery just naturally died because it's been in storage. Obviously I have a volt meter in the car and it's reading right about 9.5V when I'm trying to start the car with the jumper cables on.

On a side note I recently replaced the clutch on my own. Not sure if this would have to deal with any of the problems...

Well one OTHER obvious problem is my reverse lights are stuck on when the keys are in. But I wanted to worry about getting the car started before I worried about that...

Either way, considering the fact that I have jumper cables connected to the car, the alternator/battery should be essentially irrelevant when I try starting it correct?

If so I'm stuck where I started....

So what do I have to do to fix this? Because like I said I JUST got a new starter about a month ago and have only run the car on the started about 4 times since then...

Alright well I have another update that might mean something... After clean the battery and whatever, I tried starting the car and to no surprise, it did the same thing. But I noticed something different. When I have the E-Brake ON it clicks then tries to start, when the E-Brake is OFF it just clicks and doesn't make the weird noise like it's trying to start. Any Ideas?

Sorry for taking awhile and I appreciate you trying to help me. I've been out of town for a few days, but anyways I connected the negative end of the jumper cable to the negative battery terminal and the other side of the negative end of the jumper cable onto the engine and it fired right up. Almost without struggle. It took a bit for it to go but it sounded just like any car would that hasn't run in a few months... So what does this mean for me?

Check the battery, have a load test done on the battery, and check the connections at the battery and the battery post, make sure they are shiny clean, then of course check the alternator,to make sure it is charging enough,13.65 volts to 14.25 volts, any less replace the alternator,If all this checks out good, replace the starter.

If you did not mess with the safety switch on the clutch pedal,it should not have anything to do with it,and it would not click if the safety switch was engaged.

The starter on this car ,like many others,is what they call,a low gear permanent magnet starter, witch means, they have contacts, witch take the place of brushes, contacts are just angled pieces of metal, that wear out,and do not have any durability to them. This whats causes the problem you are having.

Have the battery load tested, remove the battery cables, clean them, and the battery post clean, shiny clean,if this dose not help, check the safety switch on the clutch pedal, maybe by pass it to make sure it is getting full contact,if this all does not help, replace the ignition switch.

Take a pair of jumper cables, just use the ground cable on the jumper cables, and ground one end to the ground on the battery ground side, then ground the other end of the jumper cable,to a good known ground on the engine, then try and start the engine, see what happens, let me know.

Check the starter take it off the car and run direct power to it from a jumper cable from the battery positive to the starter wire area if it turns over then something else is the problem if you get nothing than the starter is shot

1993 rx7 all elec accessories and head/tail lights work.... but does not start/crank... turn the key and not even the clicking sound of a low battery?... could it still be the battery?

yes, disconnect the battery and clean up the terminals, reconnect and make sure there tight (apply a bit of copper grease), if it still does'nt start (even under a jump start) you should check out the starting solinoid.
