Why am I having fuel issues with a 97' f-250 7.3 powerstroke, put new sensors on everything, new fuel lift pump, glow plugs, filter, new tank filter, cleaned all the lines from tank to the fuel bowl, s

If this situation occurs after a period of time then check the tank vent correctly at the vent valve on top of the tank. If it occurs reasonably quickly then check the fuel return lines from the injectors to the tank for obstruction ,kinks ,squashed etc preventing the fuel free access to the tank. check the pressure regulator to the pump is holding sufficient pressure to maintain pressure to the pumpin the pump

Fuel water separator

Their is a cable with a tee handle on it next to your trans dipstick , always grab the tube with one hand and pull with other or you will break the bracket that\'s attached to it . If this has been done regularly you will not have an issue , the drain tube goes down the engine on the right side and usually soaks your front axle. But if you are replacing the fuel filter you have to remove the air cleaner box and also the silencer box to access the filter . My advise is not to use drain valve , suck out as much fuel as you can and then thoroughly clean out that fuel bowl before you install the filter .I have seen many of these powerstrokes with low power issues stemming from lack of maintenance. Make sure you change your oil regularly 5-6000 miles and if you live in a cold weather state you need to use 10w30 motor craft diesel oil , it works the best with those injectors

How to remove fuel injectors

Need more info. 97 Ford diesel is a 7.3 Powerstroke, in which case the injectors are under the valve covers and held in by a sliding bracket secured by a retaining bolt. On a 6.9 diesel 85-88 I believe, the injector is unscrewed from the top of the head using a 1" deep socket.

I have a 97 powerstroke that won't start. batteries were dead, replaced them, glow plug relay new, fuel filter, starter. truck sounds like it wants to start, i dont think its getting fuel. I recently had...

Suspect gelled fuel and possibly a weak starter or failing starter solenoid.

When you crank a Powerstroke, if you can watch the crankshaft pulley and verbally count the revolutions it's probably not turning fast enough.

A little kerosene in the fuel will help keep it from gelling (a quart or two in a full tank of fuel) as will any of the anti-gel additives. Be sure you're getting winter fuel, as summer blends gel at a much higher temperature.

I've found it to be better to buy fuel at a truck stop than at gas stations. Some of fuel you get from gas stations is of very low quality- especially those gas stations that have little cards that look like credit cards that you scan to get 'bonuses', they tend to have very poor fuel oil.

What is the location number on a a/c fuse on the

If you don't have your owners manuel to find the fuse/relay location, you can go to and at no cost look at your owners manuel online.
If the fuse/relay is good the possibilities are the switch or the blower motor, with the blower motor being more likely.
If your blower works on high only (maybe not your case, just fyi), the problem is likely the blower motor resistor.
I hope this is helpful.

Fuel delivery diagram for a 1996 e350 powerstroke

Your fuel filter housing is equipped with a faulty drain valve. This valve is there to drain the filter housing of sediments that may have collected around the filter. Since these valves are made of plastic with rubber seals, they will deteriorate over time. The line you mentioned is the tube that diverts drained fuel, from the filter housing. Typically when opened (swung away from housing), this valve sends fuel through the tube to the ground beneath. Although not very environmentally friendly, it keeps fuel from pouring all over hot engine surfaces.(obvious benefits there) These are known to go bad for the reasons stated, and can be readily purchased from you local Ford dealer. I hope this helps.
