Make sure to notice which way is up on the batter first, before removing. Putting it in upside down will fry it.

Step
1

Split the transmitter from the key using a small screwdriver in the small hole on the back. You will see a couple of reliefs on the transmitter where you can split the cover.
Step
2

Use a very small screwdriver to remove the screw that holds the circuit board to the casing. You will see that the battery is underneath.
Step
3

Remove the old battery and replace it with a new one. Reverse the steps above to put the key fob back together

I have a problem. I can not get into my Jaguar. The car would not start last time I got into it so I was going to charge the battery and try again but I can not get into the car.

As i understand your quest you cant open the doors? Can you open the back trunk? If so you can disassamble the back seat wall and enter this way to the car. Post back.

Did you check the manual to see if it has remote entry modes that can be set, and maybe upon loss of power it could reset to a default mode?

How to change the battery in a jaguar XF smart key

1) Carefully remove the plastic silver sleeves on each side of the remote.
2) Carefully open the remote to expose the battery -- try to keep the circuit board and valet release pin from falling out.
3) Replace battery -- plus (+) side down
4) Before closing body of remote, take note of valet key release pin & spring. Be sure the spring and pin are in the correct position (see pic).

Keyless entry stopped working for both sets of remotes...what could this be and how do I diagnose and fix the problem for my 2003 Jaguar X-type 2.5 AWD.

Get the batteries replaced in the remotes. AutoZones ussually have RF meters to check the remotes for you but the cause most of the time is the battery. Their life span ussually does not pass 5 years. Good luck

Remote not working on my 2003 Jaguar S..have replaced battery on both remotes...I have looked in manual to find appropriate fuse.. guess I am blind..which fuse is it?

You may have to have the remotes recoded at the dealer. My remotes to my Jag don't work either. But hey the parts falling off my Jag ARE of the finest British make. LOL I really love my Jag. Call the dealer and see if they can't recode the remotes for you.
