it is most likely the oil pan gasket, not the pan itself - unless you have struck an object with the underside of the vehicle and damaged the oil pan. either way, the pan will be removed, a new gasket installed and the (old or new) pan replaced. if it is simply the gasket, you may be able to fix the leak by simply making sure all of the oil pan bolts are snug. to have someone remove/replace the oil pan & gasket, you will be looking at about 20 minutes labor + the cost of an oil change and a new oil pan gasket.

why would it need a new pan? did you run over something and screw it up? should only need the gasket replaced unless it got cracked somehow?

A used one in good condition is about 25 bucks on any of the boards. The gasket should be about 12 bucks. And to put it on it will be aprox 70 bucks. You may not need an oil pan. just a new gasket. Did you hit something that tore it open or bent it? get under there and look at it. You will be able to tell if you did or not. Generally you WONT need an oil pan....just resealed... Hope I helped.

Is replacing an oil pan in a 2004 toyota camry an easy fix ?

It isn't too hard. You need to drain the oil first ( make sure to change the gasket around the plug every time you remove and replace the plug or it will leak), then drop the oil pan... put down lots of absorber pads as there will be droppings. Have a rag on hand for your hands. Scrape and clean the old seal where the oil pan meets the engine then put on a new one once it is thoroughly cleaned. Put on new pan, or repair old one.... again make sure to replace oil pan gasket and new oil drain gasket ( around plug..) since your going that far get a new oil filter also.... fill the new filter with oil before installing, fill up the engine with new It takes a few minutes to run down so wait between oil bottles and check the level ( don't run the car) fill the oil until the dip stick reads full ( remember wait a few minutes between each liter of oil to give it a chance to leak into the bottom of the engine). I believe it is around 4.5 quarts including the amount needed to fill the filter.

Hello: There isn't any temporary repair. It is a major task to seal the oil leak, the engine has a two piece oil pan. To remove the oil pan either the transmission or engine has to be removed to accomplish the task.

I have 1995 toyota camry with 2.2 liter engine.I installed a new oil pan gasket, and valve cover gasket, cause there was alot of oil leaking from that area. All the work was done about two months ago.there...

I have the same car and the same problem. I can see the oil shooting out at the (upside down) rear, right side of the oil pan. This side of the oil pan is covered by a piece of plastic foam. There are no bolts on this side of the pan. Toyota recommends grey Formagaskit to seal the pan. The natural flow for this leak is all over the bell housing. The piece of plastic foam is attached to bell housing inspection cover. Good Luck!!!

OIl pan two hours labor.

Crankshaft or camshaft seals three to four hours.

I have a 1993 mercedes 190e 2.6 and after getting my oil changed the small leak I had is now draining my engine. I have lost 1.5 quarts of oil in 6 weeks. What do I do now. I was told to get a new oil pan...

Unless the oil pan is badly damaged then I would not replace it. Tell your technician that you would like the gasket replaced and a new oil plug installed. See if this doesn't change the price to something a bit more reasonable. Hope this helps. Good luck.
