'Transmission Fluid Hot' warning light

Stop using it & have the transmission temp issue
checked out

Ever change the trans fluid since it was new?

Doing it now won't help if debris froze up a valve
or temp switch in the valve body or the valve body
is worn or that model has issues that need to be updated

Ford f250 2005 transmission how do you check the fluid and how many quarts do I use?

22's answer as to location is correct. Check the fluid after the vehicle has warmed up and with the engine running. Check your manual for fluid type if any is required (should be type "F"). Do not overfill as it will not help. If fluid is a qt low you ahould check transmission lines going from radiator to the tranny as there is a leak somewhere. Also look around the transmission pan for leaks. Slipping of the transmission is the most obvious indicator of low fluid, stepping on the gas but the transmission doesn't push you faster. Hope this helps. GT

My 2005 buick lacrosse will not move. it will not shift into gear and the tires will not spin at all....what happened??

When is the last time you had the transmission fluid and filter replaced since you have owned the vehicle? If you have not had any of these things done, I would recommend starting there. If those do not solve the problem, then it might be the transmission itself. The transmission operates off of fluid pressure. When the fluid breaks down, it becomes thinner, and cannot engage the transmission properly. If the fluid breaks down, it also causes the transmission to get hot, or even overheat, causing damage to the transmission itself.

Where is the dip stick to check the transmision fluid how do you check the transmision fluid?

2005 Chevy Malibu has a sealed transmission with no dipstick, so you can't check the transmission fluid level without getting underneath the car and looking at the transmission itself.

Locate the transmission. Look for a small plug with a hex bolt on the passenger side of the transmission, adjacent to the passenger side front tire.

Start the engine and let it warm up to regular operating temperature. Remove the hex bolt from the plug hole in the side of the transmission with a wrench or socket. If transmission fluid flows freely from the hole, the fluid level is correct. If it barely drips, or no fluid comes out, the transmission fluid level is low.

Whine usually occurs on tight turns maximising pump output and/or pump may be worn and needs replacement. Leakage can be from pump reservor, connection, or power rack and pinion steering assy. Spray off any area with a sign of fluid with a brake clean or carb. cleaner and look for signs of leakage.
