When to change the cambelt of a 2008 v6 3500cc inspire

recommended period for cam belts is 60,000miles or 100,000 klms
earlier if the engine does a lot of high rpms or operates in dusty conditions
when replacing the belt a professional shop will also replace crank seals , cam shaft seals , idler pulleys and hydraulic adjusters
this is because they all do the same amount of work and if there is oil present, the new belt life will be less than 1/2

Replace serpentine belt

USA cars. only.
how to?
did you mean HOW to? (where, what ,when ,how , why, etc)

which engine, and which of 2 belts.?
the cam belt? G16 engine.? nah.
or the accessories belts.? I'll guess, Accessory drive belts.
guess 2:
my guess, is H25/7 V6 engine? or bigger V6. same family
"in the factory service manual on all suzuki's it is"
this is covered in the FSM book by suzuki, or alldata.com or
suzuki pit stop plug, for $4
this has been asked now on fixya 100s of times and answered more.

the J27 engine, as fitted on USA cars (this is a USA forum,so...)
has 2 belts. one for ALT/pump
with a slotted, adjustable idle tension pulley (no springs)
and
one for P/S - A/C side.
it has a :
To adjust P/S and A/C belt tension, turn tension pulley using hexagon wrench.

see here for a clear view on H25
http://www.fixkick.com/belts.html#j20

on the newer cars the alternator method changed,
and is more like the A/C side.

see arrow, my 04 dont have that. part.
on my 04 the alternator moves. (tilts) look first to see what YOU have. The G16 engines, is more tricky, but you have the V6 i think.
there are only 3 types, of tension systems.
1: TILT (alt, or P/S)
2: like below, with slot ,see slot? no springs here
3: spring loaded, idler, with allen key hole for release. J20) style.
25493842-331th0o4ygoodik5f23zyrbq-3-0.jpg
so now you know what is there,
so ill just do above belt. (how to replace and tension)
  1. loosen both 12mm bolts at idler.
  2. the belt goes slack
  3. remove belt
  4. put on new
  5. set tension to 10mm deflection at 22lbs force mid span.
  6. lock screws down .
  7. done.
that covers no spring, idler.
the link above shows, how to do the spring drive type, with a hex 10mm key "allen"

Audi a4 v6 changed timing belt now can't start no power

The timing must be off. There is a crank lock that must be installed when changing the belt and also a holding "jig" that holds the cams in place while you are changing the belts. Also the cam pulleys must be separated and free from the cam shafts when installing the belt and tensioning in order for the engine to be timed correctly.

I have a 93 audi 90 series V6 2.8L 5 speed. It needs a timing belt and will not start. What is the easiest way to change the timing belt, and what other components should be changed in order for the...

the only special tools you need are a harmonic balancer puller, and a gear puller (for the cam sprocket), you are probally going to have to remove, the altanator, your belts, a motor mount, timing convers, water pump, and maybe a couple other accessries im missing, as far as what else to change, the water pump, and serpentine belt should always be done with the timing, its not a really hard job, its just tedious, a lot of nuts and bolts, you should not have to readjust anything in the system, unless you motor is what is called an inteference motor, in which case, when the timing belt broke, the piston came up and hit the valves bending them so they dont close properly, which will cause you to have little or no compression on one or some of the cylinder, the best was to check it is while you have the motor stripped down and the belt ready to put back in, it to turn the cam to isolate 1 cylinder at a time close the valves on the cylinder, then put a compression tool on it and turn the crank, if your valves are working properly, you will get some compression from the test, zero compression means bad valves or rings.

Do i need lock tool to change cam belt on a 03 grand vitara

I'd be first confirming whether you have a 1.6 litre Grand Vitara (petrol), or a 2 litre turbo diesel. The 2 litre petrol (straight 4 or V6) or 2.5 litre petrol engines are all chain drive.
If your engine is petrol then no lock tool is required (to hold the camshaft). Of course, there is a specific position that an engine should be rotated too before removing the belt from ANY engine.
If it's diesel, then although I'm unfamilar with that particular engine, the general requirement for diesel engines with high pressure injection pumps is "yes, you require a lock tool" to hold the injection pump pulley. As I think these are a common rail set-up, this requirement may not be necessary. Check with your Suzuki Dealer, or maybe someone else here will know more. A similar question may have already been asked and answered here too.

Suggestion for 2003 Jaguar X type and 1999 A6 Audi

Was looking at parts online and could not find a timing belt for the Jag. Did find the timing cover oil seal which makes me think it has a chain , not a belt so no worries. As always I could be wrong. The audi definitely has a belt , should be changed at 60,000 Miles / 100,000 Km. I have a passat with the 2.8 V6 and find performance is not great , nor is fuel economy.
The good and bad......... jag is newer , audi is lower mileage Both are slightly finicky and repair and maint would be more $$$ than more generic cars. Ignore carfax , it is an unreliable scam.
Take each to a mechanic of your choice for an inspection.
My personal opinion is it comes down to age. If you are over 45 go with the Jag , under 45 go with the audi. (lots of performance and apearance mods avail.)

I am replacing a timing belt on Saturn vue 2002 awd v6..which pulley is the tensioner pulley? Does the crank pulley come off or do I need a puller?

only the outside pulley needs to coime off not the cam belt sprocket ,from the sound of it ?? i feel you should entrust this job to the local garage because if you make a mistake you will crunch the valves into the pistons
