Do you mean it won't hold very well or it just won't hold at all? If it won't hold at all, and there seems to be no resistance when you engage the parking brake, then the cable is possibly broken, depending on where you live. Northern states aren't very kind to metal due to the winter season, water and salt. If it won't hold very well, it just needs to be adjusted manually. Even so-called self-adjusting parking brakes seem to need manual adjustments every now and then (speaking from experience with my pickup).

You can buy a Parking Brake Cable for around $14 and a Parking Brake Pedal Pad for $3 and the handle for around $8. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Broke parking brake cable. Need to release park brake to get it to shop for repairs.

You need to lower the underdash shroud. Couple 7mm nuts hold it on. Look to the left at the parking brake pedal. Follow along a black sort of tube to the end. That end will have a cable comming out of it. Follow the cable. The cable is attached to the parking brake release lever. Pull the cable or the release handle and the parking brake should release.

I have a 2000 chevy blazer. had to short fix left rear brake line with hose and clamps. bled air from that side, brakes were soft in the pedal. checked right rear for any air had none. brakes still feel...

do not drive the vehicle. remove the hoze. replace it with steel line. rubber hoses are not meant for the high pressures of brake lines. it is expanding when you press the brake pedal. very unsafe.

Parking brake pedal stuck up

Possibly one of the pedal or bracket mounting bolts may have loosened up and is jammed against the pedal lever.

My parking brake on a 2000 S-10 Blazer will not release when I pull the release handle. How can I release the parking brake?

you need to inspect the cables for binding and it checks good then your cables might be pulled out or the actuator at pedal is stuck most GM come a release at assembly ,you may have feel around for it by the actuator just above the pedal .

2000 blazer parking release handle broken

You will have to look under the side panel, and you can release it with a screw driver, or get a pair of vise grips to pull the cable to release it.
