My light in my 2007 SX4 just came on. Apparently my oxygen sensor is wrecked... allegedly from oil dropping on it during oil changes. Did the light come on after the most recent oil change?

Maybe the sensor is faulty, only having 17k miles on it i'm guessing that is what it is, get it looked at or changed

I'm having a similar problem with a 2008 model-except it is far worse. It turned out to be frayed wires under the vehicle near the gas tank. I didn't know what was wrong so I took it to a dealer under warranty. The dealer said "animals" had chewed the wires. Their repairs, electrical tape, lasted until the first rain. I took it back and they added a little support to the wires and more electrical tape. Now a third time it has happened. FUNNY PART--- I called a completely different dealer this time, and without even seeing the car, he said, "we sometimes have trouble with animals chewing those wires."--like he had been coached. I barely told him what was wrong. I have lodged a complaint with Suzuki. Let's see how far it gets. Be careful. The wire that controls the fuel level goes through this bundle. If it does not work, the car will NOT start.

Does my 2007 suzuki sx4 awd have a timing belt or chain?

the engine type answers that.
they have many optional engine
discover what engine you have, the VIN has an engine code.
or look here.
or google all engines for SX4 and look there, and see what it is.
http://www.scantool.net/software/alldata-diy-1-month-subscription.html

belts at 60k miles
chains when they make noise, if changd oil every 5k, the chain can go
200k or way more.
filthy oil kills chains and the whole engine for that matter.

Emission control light just turned on last night...i read the manual and dont think its a water problem. i have 43k miles on it...could you share what could be the problem...and if its a major cost for a...

whenever the computer sees a problem it stores a code, this code will tell you where the problem is, this cant be major its only got 43k on it, check your gas cap and make sure its tight, a loose or missing gas cap will turn the light on, if its loose tighten it and drive for a week and it will reset if it tight then go to an autopart store many of them scan the compuetr for free and give you the cide or codes , also one more thing, this is a federal law that dealers must warranty certian emmission control parts for 8 years or 80,000 miles, so if the code is something like an o2 sensor thats warranty part, hope this helps.

I have a 2007 suzuki sx4 and recently had a oil change...now the check engine light is on and I can't set the cruise control either

We have had similar problems with 2007 SX4 for 18 months - engine light on intermittently, sometimes days, sometimes weeks, cruise control disabled when light is on. Suzuki dealer has replaced O2 sensors twice, suggested catalytic converter needs replacement ($1200) but was not certain of cause or remedy. Finally dealer has removed fuel tank and fuel pump to reveal dirty fuel filter. Dealer states dirty fuel as cause which is not their problem as they cannot control fuel quality. Dealer wants $1200 to replace pump but no guarantee it won't occur again with first new tank of fuel! Could make for very expensive driving.
