Would/could a "wire" go bad after the car ran fine on a 37 mile trip and then after sitting for 13-14 hours throw a code?

The average plug wire will show 26,000 to 32,000 ohms if they are good

You can swap the coils and check the plugs and make sure they are not carbon tracking. The porcelin will look like it has small lightning bolts on it.Swap them one at a time so you know that when the code changes to another cylinder that is what is causing the problem. If you haven1t replaced the plugs or wires in a long time or ever since you had the vehicle then it would be a good idea to replace them anyway.Could also be a bad coil pack.Hope this helps.Good luck and let me know if you need more help.

I worked at a G.M.dealership for 16 years and worked on these odd ducks. They quit making them for a reason.I still have all the factory service manuals from taking the Cadillac test. With these electronic systems now you never know what is possible or impossible.Even in the manual they will tell you to try a known good part.If the only code you got back was the 205 for the injector control then swapping with another one is a good idea. You can check and make sure it is getting power with a test light at the injector connector. If you are getting power then the injector is probably clogged. The injector gets it`s power from the pcm.You could also check the resistance of the injector. My manual is not showing a resistance value but you can check it against another one.I have also found that even if the resistance is good the injector could still be bad.Because it is not being tested under load conditions.

What you will need to *** is check #5 injector harness for voltage and a ground. You can do this with a test light. A noid light would be better. It should blink while running or cranking.

If you lost the voltage or the ground you may be looking at a PCM replacement.

Or you can swap two injectors to see if the code follows the injector.

97 buick regal gs runs fine until warm then stalls and will start for more than a second. sometimes when i give it gas it will rev for another second then stall

When the engine warms up the engine computer goes into closed loop mode and relies primarily on the O2 sensors and the MAF sensor to calculate the correct fuel to air mixture - if one of the O2 sensors is fouled or the MAF sensor is not working properly, this can cause the problem.
Given the age of the car, I would also check the idle air control (IAC) and channels, the EGR valve and the throttle body for carbon buildup.

The 2 components that I would suspect would be the Coil pack and the Cam sensor.
I had a similar issue on a Sorento. Intermittent miss on one of the cylinders. The Coil pack was bad. When I replaced it, there was a burnt smell to the bad one. It sounds like things were a bit bumped around with this engine as the O2 sensor was bent. The Coil packs are very fragile.
Hope this helps. God Bless

04 Jag xj8 set brake code is on---limped home

When this happens, usually you have to replace the Computer. There is a chance you just didn't reset it when you took to cables off. Remove them and tape or hold them together for 5minutes or longer. If it still does it, I would get a book and find out where the code is to lead you. With the obd it only gives you a starting point in the diagnosics. You may have air in your lines that need bled, a sensor out, or just plain adjustment of the cables. But it shouldn't go into limp home mode unless you lost your Engine Control Monitor. Oh, I didn't click the read more button. Check the E-brake cables. You may have run over something that hooked it and ripped it loose. The Jags can tell if the cable is too far out of adjustment. It's under the car, cable should go through the floor and run to the rear of the car and Y out to the rear wheels. Good luck.

Cyl #3 missing

Cracked spark plug, damaged worn plug cable, the clicking, thumping is a result of operator forcing engine to run out of synch, as result of electrical combustion loss. the fact the vehicle continues to run rules out any problem with fuel line - fuel components. Let us know the outcome please.
