I would definitely do a complete tune up. Plugs, wires, oil change, fuel filter and air filter.

I have a 1990 f250 4x4 with a 5.8 351w, it seems as if the truck has a loss of power, even during everyday driving (not towing). Are there any chronic well known causes for this with this particular...

With that kind of mileage - I'd start with a good healthy tune up plugs, wires, etc... replace filters air, and especially FUEL filter then run a good fuel cleaner through it. The only chronic things about 351w is valves, if burned they will give "gutless" symptoms. They are notorious "carbon hogs" - joke between Ford mechanics, "if they could make intake runners any squarer they would"

Cylinder 1 is misfiring. The plugs and wires have been replaced.

Misfire condition can cause by few items.

1) mis-gap / worn / damaged plug.
One Hyundia and small displacement engine,it can also be loose plug.

2) oil leak / vapor covering the cermaic portion of the plug.

3) clogged air flter. // change interval for small car is 12,000 to 18,000 miles.

4) clogged PCV on // 140,000 or higher mile vehicle

5) worn valve cyclinder // 160,000 miles +

6) worn timing belt with an old water pump //// 140,000 miles+

Please reply with the currrent odomenter reading and recent repair record.

No power,

My truck did the same thing. I changed the plugs with the ones the parts store recommended and it still acted gutless. Then I took it to the toyota dealership and they told me the plugs were not the right ones. So make sure you have the right plugs with a couple different parts store. i guess there sensitive and not just any plugs will work. Do it yourself though cause the dealership will rape you. Stevenson toyota in Golden colorado sucks!
