There is usually a slot between the 2 halves that you can fit a coin in and pry it apart. Some had a small screw holding it but I`m sure you would have seen it.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Can I replace the battery in the key fob for my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Yes you can. On the back of the remote there will be a tiny screw remove that and pop it open and take the old battery out. Some remotes just pop open and dont have a screw. Most take a round flat battery and you can get them at any store.

I have the same problem with my 2008 Grand Prix - replaced the batteries in both key fobs - they worked for a few days and quit working. Remote start does not work and both of the cigarette lighter chargers do not work either. I have recieved a "charging system failure" message on the readout screen as well. I have checked with 2 different mechanics and they are not sure what it is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The key fob for my 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix will not work. I have checked the battery & that is not the problem. Is there a program to reset the key fob?

The key fobs stop working because the solder joints that hold the battery in place break free. Very easy to fix with a little solder and a soldering iron. I just fixed a bunch of them for people I know including BOTH of the fobs for our 2006 GP GT. Takes about 5 minutes each.

How do you reprogram a key fob for a 2005 Grand Prix? Both of mine stopped working at the same time. Both were checked and are transmitting. Batteries are good.

The fobs need to be programed with a diagnostic scan tool.A GM dealership should be able to do this.It should not take more than 30 minutes.
