I have a 2005 mustang v6 and need a shift solenoid but was told I would have to purchase the whole gear shift assembly from the dealership. I was wondering if you can just purchase the solenoid?

Try a wrecking yard (about half price for the whole assembly) and usually guaranteed for a short time.

My 98 ford mustang is stuck in park

check fuses for brake shift solenoid. the brake pedal position switch is a fuse under the hood. inside the passenger compartment, check every fuse. that's a start for not having more information.

I have an hhr that the key is stuck in the ignition. I've been told it is a gear shift assembly problem. How much is that to purchase if my husband installs it. Is it a part I can even purchase? Autozone...

the problem is the key tumbler. You will need to have it replaced. Its not gear shift issue. go to mitchell1diy online for the procedures to replace it. Once you get the procedures then you will be able to tell if you want to tackle this.

Wont shift out of park unless I stick a screw driver in a small hole above gear shifter.

You must remove the console yes, and you need to replace the shift lock solenoid.

2005 v6 instrument cluster problems

mustangs of your year are known for having defective stepper motors installed in the gauge cluster. Having someone replace the bad motor with the newer p/n motor should be a lot cheaper than replacing your cluster at the dealership.
