Question about 1999 Nissan Sentra
Hi, my Nissan Sentra 1999 made a really weird noise while turning right. The passenger/front wheel seemed to shake for a second and then it stopped. I parked and found a round part made of metal that said "ntn 04". It seems to be a bearing.
Where does that part belong to?. What do you think happened?
Hi, if you found the part closer to the wheel than the middle of the engine then this bearing part you have found is going to be one of two things now the first and most likely problem is going to be that the drive shaft bering has collapsed now this is the most likely cause of your problem.
Now the second problem but less likely is that the wheel bearing has collapsed but if this had fallen apart and bits falling out then the chances are your wheel would have collapsed.
So to me it sounds like the drive shaft needs replacing, dont drive the car you could damage bushes or even the gearbox witch would be an expensive repair.
If your doing the work yourself then your going to need to undo the bottom ball joint and track rod end on that side to enable you to get the drive shaft out of the gear box, you will need special tools to do this so if your unsure what your doing then please leave it to a mechanic to do as getting it wrong could damage the gearbox beyond repair.
Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
