Hi mark
It sounds like an air fault check your pipes and air mass sensor, may just need a clean up.

Also make sure there is no rips in the pipes as this would cause that also.

Regards

Dan

My Ford Transit Diesel 2007 (camper van)intermitantly loses power and the Engine Malfunction light comes on. If I stop, turn off the engine and restart it a few minutes later everything goes like a ch

When the engine is under load it uses more fuel then normal .First replace the fuel filter then check the fuel pressure and flow. the pressure and flow are checked with gauges. For a rough check remove the return pipe from the fuel rail, if fuel is flowing there the fuel system should be ok providing the pressure valve is not stuck open. if there is no flow there the pump may be at fault.

Mitsubishi fuso 1995 4 cylinder diesel can not start

Using starting fluid on a deisel engine will cause: Blowing the headgasket, blowing a prechamber out of the head, bending a rod, cracking a piston, backfiring into the intake, and fire. Any of the above may have happened. I like to use wd-40 as starting fluid in my deisel engine. Starting fluid is bad for a deisel engine, espically the newer ones.

My 2007 ford transit loses power and then cuts out

I have a 2.4 diesel 375 nm model and i have been told that the problem is solved by installing the correct fuel filter. Mine loses all power and stops, and the curly light comes on, and I switch it off and start it again. It works every time but is bloody dangerous on a hill when passing someone and towing a trailer.

When you fill the water header tank the water goes straight into sump as fast as you put it in where would I find where the problem lies this is a ford transit 2.4 deisel engine

I would put good money on a cracked cylinder head. If you're really unlucky, a cracked block (Both unusual in the summer!).

First off, do a compression test. You could take out the glowplugs and use a compression tester there, but by the sound of it, a thumb over each hole is going to tell you something. Whatever the issue, even if it's a blown head gasket (and what you describe soulds far more serious than that) the cylinder head is clearly going to have to come off. From there, it's a matter of looking at what is revealed.
