You don't need to use a special kind of radiator flush, but the coolant is called DEX COOL. It's made by prestone specifically for GM engines, you can get it at walmart for like 5 bucks.

You do it thru the overflow-reserve tank. That is the pressure cap normally found on the radiator.

My 1996 Maxima leaks water from what looks like a hose going into the front of the engine block

ok check the hose if its very soft feeling you may need to replace sounds like a coolent hose. also make sure the hose is tight on the block fitting maby the band has worked loose may just need to be tightned, then refill your radiatior with new fluid. you should be fine. remember to do this after the car is completly cool you dont need a coolent burn and it will stay hot awhile so its best to get the hose you need [if you need one] the day before with the coolent, that way you can do it first thing in the morning when its cool. also if green coolent comes out green coolent goes back if orange coolent comes out orange coolent goes back in. never mix those typs of coolents they are not compatible.. you will probily loose all you coolent so drain it at the bottom of radiator before you start. unless you like laying in it to work on the hose. then refill all is well.. i hope this helped you.. also youtube has alot of good videos on radiator type stuff just type in radiator hose replace and you should get alot of videos on how to do it. who knows they may even have one with the same model as your car.. again i hope this helps good luck

Dont see radiator cap. is the plastic (special engine coolent) container where u fill radiator?

Yes but you should still see a radiator cap either on the radiator of on one of the hoses coming off the radiator. This is a closed system but still should have a fill point.

Put in coolent and still get overheated cap came off of radiator and made sure it was tight

It's time to replace the thermostat they seem to go out at about 70,000 miles. it's a cheep fix but it uses special antifreeze so when you replace it get the right type and buy it from the dealer. Also take the cap to the parts store and have them pressure test the radiator cap, they go bad too at about the same time. You Want to do this right away because you have plastic radiator and if it overheats it's expensive to replace and for 70 dollars in parts it's cheaper than a new engine.
