How do you change the rear bearings on a 2002 kia spectra 4dr? More specifically, do they need to be pressed? I did the front, and they needed to be pressed.

The rear bearing for this vehicle comes in a complete assembly with the hub. When you take the axle nut off, the hub/bearing assembly literally fell off! Slid the new one on, replaced nut. Done.

You can do them your self you just use a flat screw driver and a hammer place the rear drum on two small 2x4s and you can tap the bearing and race out. to put them back in you can use a over size socket just smaller the the hole in the drum to knock the bearing back in they make a tool for like 20 bucks at any auto parts store to take them out and put them back in

How can I remove rear outer bearing?

New style bearings are all pressfit bearings, if your hub came right out of the bearing assembly, it is time for the whole assembly. The hub assembly has a locking ring that holds the outer bearing race inside the hub, after the wheel hub has been pressed out. Then, after the lockring has been removed it can be pressed out and the new bearing can be pressed back in and then the lockring reinserted. Then the wheel hub gets pressed in.

How doi change a wheel bearing an my Kia, Spectra 5

Wheel bearings are not a suggested DIY, but it can be done. The wheel, brake assembly, and hub all need to be removed. Then you use a wheel bearing puller for your vehicle to remove the bearing, and a wheel bearing installer to press it back in.

How do I replace the rear wheel hub on the 2002 Kia Spectra? I got it off but a piece stayed on and I can't get it off...

the rear hub is an assembly with the bearing. It's one piece! 50 bucks or so at any parts store. take off the axle nut, bearing/hub assembly slide right off and on. replace axle nut, done.

Does the front wheel bearing for a 2002 kia spectra have to be pressed in or can i simply remove and replace it?

This is a job and a half! YES, you will have to press them out and in. You have to remove everything. Brake caliper and bracket, rotor, strut, tie rod, and ball joint. Take out the whole knuckle, with the hub still in it. Then you have to flip it over and press the hub out of the bearing. THIS WILL DESTROY THE OLD BEARING! The outer piece of the bearing will be stuck on the hub. Put the hub in a vice, heat the piece of the bearing that's stuck on, and wedge/pry/bang it off. Now go back to the knuckle, and remove the retainer ring (which was hidden behind the hub). Flip over and press out the remaining bearing piece. Clean it all up and press the new bearing in. Be sure when you press it in that you use a cylindrical block that hits the outer edge of the bearing, or you'll push the guts right through. Put in the retainer ring (if it won't go in, you have to press more). I recommend a new ring, they're like $5 at the dealer. The old one will likely get bent. Now, press the hub into the new bearing. At this stage, BE SURE YOU SUPPORT THE CENTER OF THE BEARING, OR YOU'LL PUSH IT THROUGH. Put the car back together and you should be fine. I know this may not be the "correct/professional" way to do it, but it's what I had to do to spend $50 instead of almost $500 at a shop. I have 176,000 miles on my Spectra, and I've done both sides twice. Good luck!

2002 kia spectra front brake rotors

There is a phillips-head screw holding the rotor to the hub. you need an impact or hammer wrench to get it off. I bought mine at a parts store for like 10 or 15 bucks. it's like a big *** screwdriver with different bits for the screws (flathead, fillips, etc.) and you put it on the screw and whack the end with a hammer while twisting the driver at the same the opposite to put it back on. hope that helps. email me at if you need more help.
