You must have automatic climate control. The programmer or fan module is bad

Hi I have a 2008 cobalt that the fan speed dose not work I've changed fan itself the resitor I now have it bypassed with toggle switch temporary any ideas

My first guess would be the control module, if the fan has no power and the 30 amp fuses are ok.
The blower is grounded to the body and gets power thru the HVAC control module and the body control module. There are relays and fuses involved. The high speed relay bypasses the resistor.
You may need a wiring diagram and a book to diagnose it.

Blower motor blows high whenever ignition switch is on

Sounds like your fan switch could be shorted out

My fan speed is stuck on hi no matter were I set it. Also it stays on when you turn it off and it stays on for about 10 seconds after the car is shut off.

I would replace that switch first thing since there is nothing that can make it stay "on" other than itself.

About fan and thermostat

First, how most cars are made.
You have two electric fans.
One of them is controlled by the temperature of the motor.
For example, on a cold day, that fan may not come on ever, or not until the engine is really hot and you are stuck in traffic.
That fan can also possibly come on even when the motor is shut off, since it is "engine-temperature" controlled.
Another fan is "air conditioner" controlled.
It comes on whenever you turn on your air conditioning.

Now about your Audi.
I'm not sure, I'd ask someone else who owns an Audi, or even better, call an Audi garage/dealership and ask them.
They might be a little different.
German car makers have a mind of their own.
Be blessed.

Heater fan dose not work on the 3rd speed. But works on 1,2 & 4 speeds.

the fan resistor may be bad only allowing certain speeds. this is located under right side of dash in the face of fan housing next to fan. here is a picture to aid you. hope this is helpful onetufshoppe_91.gif
