Hello. Check the knob on the dash that spins from cold to hot. Pull it off, and reposition it so that it will turn farther to the right...i am unsure why this is, but it seems to have 2 positions, one that will allow cool air on the left and cold air on the right. If you roate it 180 degrees and put it back on the dash you get warm air on the left and hot air on the right.

Takes long time warm up

1- first off, it takes a good, engine thermostat to get good heat.
(input) (its called a heat exhanger) bad input ,gives bad output.

we connect a scan tool an see ECT at 180F or more, holding and in the normal driving distances, if you STAT is 2001, its old and slow, get it out of there. if true. old stats can cause overheating and engine damage to any sign of sluggishness or wrong temps, its kicked to the curb, fast. ( if a smart cookie) LOL.
Second, is the fan, yours works. end fan.

Third, are the dampers , these must change at your command.
the FSM covers these tests. do you want to do them.?

its at alldata.com too.. login and read HVAC.

does the temp gauge or light come on? is the car over heating? .... oh and a starter can test fine when its cold, but the heat soak from the engine and exhaust affect it's performance drastically. it sounds like you need a new starter.

Olds silhouette heater blows cold air

as long as the engine temperature is normal, i would suspect a clogged heater core, the dex-cool antifreeze is notorious for building up deposits in cooling system. have heater core flushed first to see if it makes any difference
