If it is the pilot shaft bearing then you will need to have a good impact wrench to remove the jamb nut. The ring gear assembly has to be removed, becareful not to lose the shims on both sides and keep them in order for each side. The inner bearing on the shaft is a pressed bearing so without proper tools these bearings are hard to remove.

How do I repair rear dif seals on this ute

you will have to pull the axles from the diff housing to replace the seals
Most seals leak because the lip of the seal cannot maintain contact with the shaft and that indicates worn or loose bearings
Because it requires a lot of effort to remove the axles it is best to fit new bearings as well as new seals.

I would dismantle the axle, fit new thrust bearings and anything else that is worn/damaged and reassemble/adjust clearance gaps to it, according to the service manual.

Hello, so I'm trying to better understand failing cv joints and how it can affect front differential on a front drive SUV. I read an article that when cv joints go bad it can affect the front differential...

First I think you read it wrong ,that Front WD suv have locking dif..they don't , it locks at the transfer case at the tranny and only on All Wheel Drive SUVs. And then it only transfer more power from back wheels to front wheel. The dif are open dif. means the power goes to the wheels with least resistance or limited slip dif. that transfers power to slower turning wheel. Yes max. load is at full lock and high speeds and yes it does damage over time (wear out), less at lower speeds. The symptoms of a failing cv is knocking while turning.

Check the condition of the wheel bearings, front and back side if the brake rotor, and the back side of the rim. Everything should be clean, rust build-up can throw everything out of true. The hub or wheel-bearing should be tight and smooth when spun.

2004 GMC Yukon Denali Awd humming sound in front of truck

The Denali's are really susceptible to front dif. wear and failure. Because it is AWD, the front dif is always working unlike a 4WD. GM, in order to lighten up the front end built the front dif in aluminum. If it was the same as the rear, it would be bullet proof, but much heavier. After about 80,000 miles it is common to have bearings failing. Remove the drain plug which happens to be magnetic. You may see more than just the normal fine filings. You will likely see larger chunks of metal some of which is not even magnetic but will drain out with the oil. You are likely looking at a $1500 rebuild. It will get much louder and run for a long time before it really goes south.
