How much to repair a ripped off oil pan, gaskets,

I got in a car crash a few months ago in my 2001 Hyuandai elantra. the Entire car is fine besides me going over the curb and ripping off the oil pan and possibly the head gaskets etc. and was wondering how much it would cost to get that all repaired. When i tryed to start it afterwards it still went on and tryed to start so i dont think anything is wrong with the engine. Advice and repair costs please??!!!

Oil pan and gasket are not that expensive and a easy do-it-yourself job, pan and gasket shouldn't cost more the $30-$40, but then you have to buy more oil and filter, so id say with all that no more then $60

Well i dont think you would have damaged your head gasket along with the oil pan, i would imagine it would be the pan,pan gasket and more than likley the oil pump all togather under 300$

What causes yellow gunk in the oil cap on my 2004 chevy trailblazer

Could be a leaking head gasket or intake gasket.
The gunk is water or coolant. Water if the engine never warms up, coolant if there is a leak.

Leaking lots of oil around the oil pan

Are you sure the leak is around the oil pan? I had my oil changed at a garage a few weeks ago and they stripped the plug, There was so much oil it looked like it was running out of holes all over the pan. Im not a Fixya pro, but when my pan was leaking like this I just needed a new plug, the pan threads were fine, but check yours to be sure, you may need a pan. Hope I helped :-)

Hi, I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, 2.2L, 4cyl. Oil pan gasket has gone bad, do we have to replace the entire oil pan? Or can we just find a gasket somewhere? Any thoughts on where to get either?

Here is the problem, the gasket is all you need as long as there are no holes in the pan, sometimes they hit things besides raccoons and dent the pan, you can get a gasket no problem, here's the problem, not all pans slide out for you to work on without lifting up the engine about 6 inches, there is an oil pump that sumps down in the bottom of that pan, and you can't get the pan out without hitting it especially when there is a motor mount, cross member in the way. You might be able to get the pan down about 2 inches, get the gasket cleaned off without spilling too much **** inside the sump, then stretch the new gasket around the outside of the pan and get it in place, use no adhesive, no silicone, nothing, dry. Good luck, and Hope this helps.

Not likely. My 2001 Tribute developed a leak at the oil pan gasket about two years ago. I got the gasket replaced, but it was expensive. I would take it to another shop and get a second opinion.

How do you replace the oil pan in a 2001 plymoth neon

Its very simple actually! First drain the oil and take off the filter as if you were going to do an oil change. Then jack up the car in the front on both sides of the wheels.Use jack stands if you have them when you get the car up to support it good cause you might be under there for a few minutes. You may have to scrap some of the oil off to see the pan bolts. They should be a 7/16 inch or a 10mm.Undo all the bolts around the pan and remove. Now reinstallation is reverse but remember to clean the block of the engine with a scaraper to ensure a good seal when you replace the pan and gasket. Check the new pan for surface cleaness, cover the entire edge of the pan with gasket sealer, put gasket on pan and replace.the two end cap gaskets are the same.

How do I replace the oil pan gasket on a 2001 GMC Yukon XL?

Changing the oil pan gasket on a GMC Yukon XL is realtively simple, but does require removal of the exhaust pipe. You will need a new oil pan gasket and a new exhaust pipe flange gasket.
Put the car on ramps or jacks to access the undercarriage.
Remove the exhaust pipe by removing the 3 nuts holding the exhaust pipe flange to the exhaust manifold. These nuts often rust and prior application of penetrating oil may be required to remove them without damage. Once the pipe is unbolted, work the exhaust system loose from the hanging brackets. In most cases the entire system does not have to be removed since there is enough room to remove the pan with only the front hangers removed.
Drain the oil from the engine
Remove the 10 mm bolts holding the pan to the block.
Remove the old gasket material and scrape any remaining gasket from the block and pan.
Install the new gasket. Forma-Gasket or a similar product may be used in small quantities to "glue" the new gasket in place and prevent shifting while the pan is reattached to the block.
Reinsall the 10 mm bolts in a cross pattern to ensure the gasket is compressed evenly. Do not overtighten the bolts.
Replace the pipe to flange gasket between the exhaust pipe and the exhaust manifold with a new part.
Reattach the exhuast pipe to the hangers.
Install the 3 bolts connecting the pipe flange to the exhaust manifold.
Fill the engine with oil.

Gasket replacement

in my opinion if the car is changing gears fine then just fix the gasket and seals when you can if its changing fine then they are trying to rip you off as renewing the seals and gasket will fix your leak and if its slipping gears it could last a day it could last a year so if its slipping yes its important to replace it
