Question about 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

Torque converter bolts and missfire

I was told to check the torque converter bolts on my 99 LS chevy blazer 4x4. It's not like my old chevy where I can just crawl under move the bell cover and check how do I do it on this vehicle? Also a computer says multiple missfire on cyls. It has new wires and plugs any ideas?

My 2004 chevy blazer 4x4 won't shifts out of first until 2500 rpm then I have to let off of the throttle to get it to shift unto second

Sounds like a faulty torque converter or torque converter solenoid to me. The solenoid is an medium level DIY job... just keep the area as clean as you can with Simple Green before you remove the old one and have a new metal spatula handy to scrape off the old gasket. The area must be pristine clean before putting the new one on. If it's the torque converter, a professional shop will need to do tis for you... big bucks. I suggest you go to Autozone and have them put a fault code reader on your Blazer... it's free and they can make sure you get the tight parts too! A Haynes manual will tell you what the fault codes mean.

How do you get to the torque converter bolts on a chevy s10 blazer 2003?

If you remove the starter, you can access the bolts through the starter drive hole... it isn't easy, but definitely possible.

The flywheel bolt wont line up to where i can get the torque conveter bolts in

Make sure the torque converter is in all the way. It should spin freely and be about 1/2 - 1/4 inch away. You can either put a big socket on the bolt in the front of the harmonic balancer and turn the engine to where you can easily access the flywheel holes. Then while spinning the torque converter push in into the transmission. You may have to try to get a pry bar up in near the center of the torque converter to push it straight in (while spinning it). If not, you will either have to separate it again (take out the two side lower bolts first and insert some LONG ones of the same thread to give you room and keep it lined up) and remove the other 4 bolts completely. If you're sure it's in all the way. Either the torque converter or flywheel may be wrong. If you have a 4L60E and someone gave you a '98 or '00 there could be a problem as the '99 is supposed to be '99 only. Some people say otherwise. However it's been my experience that the '99 Astro/Safari/s10/s15 4 WD and AWD will work fine but other years sometimes have the peanut (small) converter. Or someone may have assumed that the 4L60E was the same from a full sized GM 4x4 product. I hope that helps. If so please leave a testimonial and rate my assistance. Thanks for using Fixya.

I need to seperate the engine and tranny on a 99 4x4 Dakota 3.9l. Seems to be a plate blocking access. Need to get to the torque converter bolts.

there is an inspection cover on the bottom of the bell housing you must remove to get to the torque converter bolts. you must rotate the fly wheel to access all the bolts. they make a tools for this, but a flat head screw driver works just as good, it just takes a little longer.

On my chevy S-10 blazer I get a vibration. Its been tuned and I even changed the harmonic balancer. could the vibration be coming from an out of balanced torque converter?

You can eliminate it by removing the bolts between the flywheel and the torque converter. A weak cylinder can cause this also. Do the basics, check plug colors, compression test, and even a leak down test to start.
